Description
The previous year in 1982, Journey held their second performance in Japan following their 1981 “ESCAPE” tour (fourth Japan tour), and their first Budokan performance. The following year, in 1983, they toured Japan with their new album “FRONTIERS” and reached the peak of their popularity and sales. This fifth visit to Japan included 7 performances nationwide, and their first 2 days at Budokan. I did. This edition is the definitive set of the live performance on March 2nd, the second day of Budokan performance of this year. First of all, Discs 1 & 2 include a complete high-quality audience recording of the day’s live performance for 2 hours and 4 minutes from the original cassette recorded by Miracleman. The recording seat is “2nd floor south stand, row N, number 19.” It is certainly a sound that makes you feel the distance from the stage, but it is a miracle man, recording the entire show with an outstandingly stable and clear sound. It seems that there was probably some adjustment of the PA, but as the concert progresses, the brightness of the musical tone becomes higher and higher, and you can see that the overall sound quality gradually improves. The great thing about the Miracle Man recording is that even when the clapping gets louder and the cheers get louder, the musical sound is never disturbed. I don’t know how to express my excitement and excitement. I sometimes wonder, “Why are audience recordings so moving?” This is exactly the case, and the enthusiasm, emotion, and atmosphere of that day, that place, everything that was there, so to speak, is captured in the sound. This is probably because it is realistically sealed inside. If you are a fan, you will understand how wonderful and important this recording is. After all, you can listen to Open Arms, Any Way You Want It, and Separate Ways with this highly immersive high-quality sound, so this is a world of “experience” rather than listening. This is an amazing record. This is a piece that will take you back in time to the second floor south stand of Budokan that night, and you can experience the unusual excitement throughout the entire movie. Next is disk 3 & 4. These two discs contain 1 hour and 24 minutes of Journey’s live performance that was broadcast on the popular FM radio program at the time (“FM Live Special”) on the highest level ultra-high quality stereo soundboard. . Miracleman also air-checked this take, but perhaps the equipment used was different, and the sound quality throughout the entire film was truly amazing. You might think, “Isn’t it obvious that the sound is good because it’s a broadcast sound source?”, but that’s not the case. We have listened to the radio sound source of this day many times, but it is on a different level from those, as if the master reel of the broadcasting station was directly digitized? It is recorded with an amazing super sound that will make you think. I think our discerning customers will be able to tell right away that this is no longer a product of the world of equalization and remastering. (In addition, it is the Budokan radio sound source of Disc 2 of Olivia Newton-John’s Budokan ’76 title. That air check sound source was also provided by Miracleman, but it was recorded with surprisingly high sound quality.) If the sound is this good, it can be used as is for the official live album. The mix on this day was the best, especially the loud recorded bass tone, which was a masterpiece.I think the wide and spacey sound structure is a hobby of the broadcast station personnel, but technically it is also really impressive. . However, the recording time is 84 minutes, which is more than 30 minutes shorter than the actual live performance, including the MC between songs, so the only way to enjoy the complete version of the show is to listen to Miracleman’s audience recording. In that sense, I think this set is the best set as they complement each other. Furthermore. By watching the bonus disc “Young Music Show”, you can relive and enjoy this night’s live performance more realistically. Just on the 11th of next month, Journey, with lead vocalist Arnel Pineda, will perform at Budokan for the first time in 30 years. In that sense, why don’t you relive the Budokan live performance from 30 years ago tonight and relive it with this edition? The 1983 Tokyo performance definitive edition includes a high-quality audience recording that is the best document of the day, and a 4-disc set of radio live sound sources recorded in unprecedented high quality. This is definitely a must-have for fans. Live at Budokan, Tokyo, Japan 2nd March 1983 TRULY AMAZING/PERFECT SOUND(from Original Masters) & STEREO SBD Disc 1 (56:26) 1. Intro. 2. Chain Reaction 3.
