Description

The classic live album, which represents the golden “FRONTIERS TOUR” and is touted as “the strongest and best in JOURNEY history”, has been revived with a quality that updates the highest peak in history. One of the “strongest and best” is the “Norman performance on July 21, 1983”. This show was broadcast on radio and is a classic among classics that has produced countless soundboard albums since ancient times. After all, it is a super-excellent stereo soundboard that conveys the true value of the golden age. It is such a famous sound source that about two years ago, the news “Finally officially released as ‘THE FRONTIERS TOUR’!” was flying around (in fact, it was a bootleg made overseas, and it was a sad version that was incomplete). Because it is such a classic, enthusiasts all over the world have been pursuing the “top board”. Which board is the longest, and which Gene is the youngest? This work is the one that puts an end to such history. In fact, it was thought that the “search for the top of Norman ’83” was settled among enthusiasts around the world several years ago. The conclusion was “pre-FM transcription LP drop”. This is a sound source that we have also delivered. The quality was a different dimension from the many existing air checks, there was no deterioration of genes or radio noise, and it was literally the ultimate one that even withstood the deterioration over time because it was an unused analog record. However, the desire of enthusiasts did not end there. Although it delivered the “1983 broadcast itself” as accurately as possible, it was not “1983 JOURNEY itself”. The cause was pitch and noise. This pitch problem is not at the level of “you might notice it if you listen carefully”. It was off by a semitone. Of course, if the whole story was crazy, anyone would notice, but it was troublesome because it was not. Inexplicably, only four songs, the three in the middle of the show, “No More Lies,” “Back Talk,” and “Edge Of The Blade,” and the final song, “Keep On Runnin’,” were a semitone higher. Furthermore, the sound quality of these four songs was different from the others, and there was also a momentary “pop” noise mixed in. This is a speculation among enthusiasts, but perhaps these four songs were replaced by other performances by the broadcasting station for some reason. In particular, this Norman performance was a three-day consecutive performance at the same venue on “July 19,” “July 20,” and “July 21,” and it is said that these four songs were recorded on the other two days. Although the introduction has become quite long, this work thoroughly corrects these shortcomings. The four songs that are a semitone higher are just adjusted to the exact timing, and the noise is carefully removed one by one. In addition, even the analog scratch noise that remained in the other songs was cleanly and neatly removed, achieving a beautiful “sound” without any scratches. It is not the “1983 broadcast” but the “1983 masterpiece” itself that has been accurately reproduced. What a wonderful thing about this historical super-famous recording that has been revived in this way! After all, the “FRONTIERS TOUR” is the heyday of the heyday. The masterpieces such as “Wheel In The Sky” and “Lights” from “INFINITY”, “Line Of Fire” and “Any Way You Want It” from “DEPARTURE”, and “No More Lies” from SCHON & HAMMER are delicious, but what is even more overwhelming is the generous behavior of seven songs from the masterpieces “ESCAPE” and “FRONTIERS” out of ten songs each. Of course, this year’s Japan tour also had a complete reproduction for the first time in the world, but the flow that tends to be strange in such “projects” is extremely natural in this work (after all, “Separate Ways” doesn’t burn out in the middle). What is cut in order to achieve perfection as a “show” is cut, and the luxury of the super masterpieces selected in a luxurious manner seems to shine. And what is more overwhelming than such a set list is the live itself. After all, the five-member band that produced the super-famous albums “ESCAPE” and “FRONTIERS” explodes on stage with their potential. The youthful passion and inspiration of 34 years ago are the same as in the super-famous albums. Although they are originally a very skilled band, they have the momentum of “We are currently sweeping the whole world!”, so it can’t be bad. In particular, 34-year-old Steve Perry is in full swing, and he has the best singing voice in the rock world. This is the definitive historic soundboard album, perfectly finished with even the pitch and noise made by the original broadcasting station corrected. The contents are the live versions of “ESCAPE” and “FRONTIERS”, and are already worth the same as the two super-famous albums. This is the absolute edition of such a live album.
