This is a live recording of a quartet by Joshua Redman and Brad Mehldau, who both unfortunately had to cancel their visits to Japan at the last minute. The rhythm section is made up of Christian McBride and Brian Blade, who are impeccable. The performance has a lot of dynamics, so the applause between songs and after each solo part was recorded quite loudly, but it was reduced as much as possible during remastering, making it much easier to hear and improving. Brad Mehldau also held a solo concert two days prior, which was released by the same label, so we recommend listening to that as well.
