Description
This is a recording of a gig at the White Swan, a folk club in Leicestershire, on September 16th, 1967, from the early days of Joni’s career and before her major debut, recorded on a soundboard from a broadcast master. After leaving Toronto in the mid-60s to become a solo artist, she began performing mainly on the East Coast, and her original compositions and performance style soon attracted attention. She was singing mainly at the Second Fret Club, and people began to recognize her as a new sensibility, so this was her first gig in the UK. She also performed her later hits, such as “The Lights and Shadows of Youth” and “Circle Game”. And of course, the entire album is performed by her singing style with acoustic guitar, and above all, it is a gem of high documentary value as the oldest and most valuable live recording in existence. 01.
