Description

Jon Anderson is counting down the days until the release of his first solo album in eight years, “1000 HANDS: CHAPTER ONE.” Introducing a superb set that records his latest solo concert. This work includes the “March 12, 2019 Epcot performance.” This is a 3-disc set containing the finest audience recordings and audience shots from the music event “GARDEN ROCKS 2019” in Orlando. Speaking of John, I’m curious about YES Featuring ARW, but their 50th anniversary tour ended in September last year. It has been announced that in 2019, each member will pursue solo activities, and that they will restart in 2020 or later. It’s a shame that ARW is on hiatus because the show was great, but instead we received news of the release of “1000 HANDS: CHAPTER ONE.” In addition to the album, they also announced a tour at the same time. This work is the first report of such a latest solo tour. First, let’s take a look at John’s current status based on his 2019 schedule. ・March 11th + 12th: Orlando (6 performances) ←★Coco★《“1000 HANDS: CHAPTER ONE” released on March 31st》 ・March 29th – April 30th: North America (19 performances) ・5 August 6th-12th: North America (5 performances) August 8th: Detroit These are the dates announced so far. The tour will begin at the same time as the release of the solo album, but “GARDEN ROCKS” was a warm-up show before that. This work is a record of the second day with the best audience recording and video. Now let’s introduce each of them. [Disc 1-2: The best live album for 3 stages] The first thing that appears is the best live album that goes all at once. This is the master released by Tapehead2, who is highly regarded as a modern master, and has been producing masterpieces in recent progressive rock recordings. In particular, last year’s “CRUISE TO THE EDGE 2018” recorded various bands with the best sound, and quickly attracted attention. This work is the latest work by such a master. An exquisitely beautiful recording with an active core and elegant sound. It’s not so close that you could mistake it for a sound board, but because the venue is an open space, there are no echoes and you can enjoy plenty of clear and fresh sound. In particular, the “feeling of rain” in the chorus work is wonderful, and it seems like a special sound that is perfect for YES music. The latest show drawn with such beautiful sounds is also really interesting. Actually, it’s not a full concert, but a mini stage that lasts about 30 minutes. We do this three times a day. The opening = “Owner of A Lonely Heart” and ending = “Roundabout” are fixed for all three stages, but three songs are sandwiched between them. These middle three songs have been replaced quite a bit, so let’s just organize them here. ●SET 1 (starting at 17:30) Old song: America, Yours Is No Disgrace New song: Makes Me Happy ●SET 2 (starting at 18:45) Old song: I’ve Seen All Good People, Starship Trooper New song: Ramallama ●SET 3 (Starts at 20:00) New song: Makes Me Happy, Where Does Music Come From Old song: Yours Is No Disgrace *Note: “Owner of A Lonely Heart” and “Roundabout” are the same for all sets. …and it looks like this. Each set is a separate performance, so there are many duplicates, but three songs from “1000 HANDS: CHAPTER ONE” are being performed. The PV for “Ramalama” was released the other day, but you can already enjoy the full story of “Makes Me Happy” and “Where Does Music Come From” with live performances. And YES songs may seem familiar, but they are not. Gorgeously updated with a nine-piece ensemble including violin, saxophone, and trombone. Despite being such a large household, the ensemble is so tight and tight that it’s amazing. Although it is still the first performance, it may surpass the original YES and ARW if the number of performances increases. This work is also a sound that clearly understands even the details of such an ensemble. [Disc 3: Video edition where you can witness the latest ensemble] Following such a live album is a superb audience shot that includes the entire 3 stages. However, “SET 2 and 3” are on the same “March 12th” as the live album, but only “SET 1” is on the previous day, “March 11th”. The quality is truly superb. Not only is it the latest digital equipment, but it looks directly at the stage with zero obstructions, and uses a bold zoom to cover not only John’s solos but also the solos of each member. Of course, all three are the best, but the one that is especially amazing is “SET 1 (March 11th).” It is a genuine premiere, but only this stage is multi-camera footage. Although you can tell it was shot from the audience seats because you can hear the lively applause, the footage captures the highlights and the ultra-clear sound makes it look like a professional shot. The visuals are so beautiful that you forget the fact that they were shot for an audience. And when you witness it in the video, the core ensemble is even more vivid. While it is based on Michael T. Franklin, the producer of “1000 HANDS: CHAPTER ONE” and his band, it is even broader. Particularly eye-catching is Taiwanese violinist Jocelyn Su. Not only is she the only one in the band, but her youthful Asian features are very noticeable in a band that seems to have an older average age, and her cat ears (?) that seem to appeal to her youth are also dazzling. Of course, the performance is authentic. She holds a music degree from Florida State University and not only performs in orchestras but also teaches. It may become a hot topic in the future. John Anderson’s latest solo show where you can enjoy new songs from “1000 HANDS: CHAPTER ONE” and YES music rewritten with a nine-piece lineup. It is a superb audience set that includes the entire 3 stages of the day with a live album and video. This is a book that allows you to quickly check out the latest ensemble before the full-scale start of the tour.
