Description
Johnny Winter passed away in Switzerland in July of the same year at the age of 70, while he was still in good health and performing in Japan for his third visit to Japan in 2014. This title is a memorial item for him, and is a live performance at the Old Waldorf in San Francisco on December 23rd, 1978, from the US tour when his eighth album “WHITE, HOT & BLUE” was released, recorded on a soundboard from FM on-air master. Since it is a broadcast recording, the recording is complete except for the opening fade-in. The album was released with band members made up of old friends, and although sales were not good, the band performed energetically at live shows, and the strong trio with new members bassist John Paris and drummer Bobby Torello, who joined the band that year, made it a fulfilling year in Johnny’s career. And in keeping with the season, they performed “Merry Christmas Baby” as an encore, with bassist John Paris on vocals and guitar and Johnny on bass. DISC 1: 01. Hideaway (fade in)/02.
