Description
In 2012, John Wetton came to Japan three times in one year, solo/U.K./ASIA. Among them, the original vacuum-packed recording of a valuable solo performance will be released for the first time in Japan. What is recorded in this work is “January 18, 2012: Shangri-La performance”. This is the best audience recording. As mentioned above, Wetton visited Japan many times in 2012 with different tastes. This week, the U.K. version masterpiece “OSAKA 2012 (Amity 606)” will be released at the same time, so let’s check out the show’s position from the panoramic view of Japan. Solo (2 performances) ・January 17th: Shibuya Club Quattro ・January 18th: Umeda Shangri-La ←★This work★ U.K. (6 performances) ・June 14th-17th: Club Citta Kawasaki (4 performances) ・6 Monday 19th: Namba Hatch ・June 21st: Club Citta Kawasaki ASIA (4 performances) ・September 24th + 25th: Shibuya Public Hall (2 performances) ・September 26th: Osaka Sankei Hall Breeze ・September 27th: Zepp Nagoya – 12 performances in total. He came to Japan three times: at the beginning of the year, early summer, and early fall, but the first time was under a solo name. Although he continued to visit Japan in the U.K. and ASIA, this was his last solo performance in Japan. This work recorded at such a show is truly a masterpiece. Anyway, the core is extremely thick, there is no sense of distance at all, and the details are super clear. There’s almost no ambient audience noise, and even at maximum volume there’s a great sense of stability that won’t make you vibrate at all, allowing you to enjoy British voices and pounding basses to your heart’s content…To be honest, I’d say it’s like a soundboard. I just want to finish it. It’s no surprise that it ended up sounding like that. This work was created by Mr. “Western Japan’s Strongest Taper”, who is well known at our store. Because the venue, “Shangri-La,” is a club with a capacity of 350 people, the intense feeling of being in a closed room is completely vacuum-packed. What is drawn with such intimate sound is a variety of full shows unique to solos. The backing includes John Mitchell (guitar), also known as a member of IT BITES/ARENA, Martin Orford (keyboard) of IQ/JADIS, and Steve, who has played with DURAN DURAN and Jeff Beck. Three people, Alexander (drums). Of course, he will also play U.K. and ASIA numbers, but the main focus will be his solo masterpieces. Let’s organize the contents here. KING CRISON/U.K./ASIA (6 songs) ・KING CRISON: Starless “Red” ・U.K.: Rendezvous 6:02 “Danger Money” ・ASIA: Only Time Will Tell “Eijikan” / Heat of the Moment “Eiji” “Kan” / Don’t Cry “Alpha” / Don’t Wanna Lose You Now “Omega” Solo (10 songs) ・CAUGHT IN THE CROSSFIRE: Cold Is the Night ・VOICE MAIL: Space and Time / Hold Me Now / Battle Lines・WELCOME TO HEAVEN: Heart of Darkness/Where Do We Go From Here?/Another Twist of the Knife/Real World ・RAISED IN CAPTIVITY: Steffi’s Ring/After All…And so it goes like this. When it comes to Wetton’s solo work, there are officially a large number of live albums, but most of them are mainly famous songs by KING CRIMSON, U.K., and ASIA. At the time when I was only working as a solo artist, I couldn’t help but do that because that’s what was required of me, but in 2012 I started working with U.K. and ASIA at the same time. He has unearthed many songs that can only be played solo, including “Don’t Wanna Lose You Now,” which ASIA has never played at its original home. This is a live album packed like a jewel box with famous songs left by Wetton, a rare melody maker, throughout his career. A full show that is unique to solos, different from the U.K., which scatters sparks with their performances, and the hit parade of ASIA. It is a masterpiece of a live album where you can fully enjoy it with the best sound of a barefoot sound board. A rush of valuable masterpieces in 2012, which was held at the same time as U.K./ASIA.
