Description

This work was recorded at the Quebec performance on October 12, 1995. After leaving ASIA again in the summer of 1991, Wetton began his solo career. He released the masterpiece “VOICE MAIL” and the live album “CHASING THE DRAGON” from his Japan tour, and also participated in Steve Hackett’s “GENESIS REVISITED,” spending the early 1990s. As part of such activities, he went on an unplugged mini-tour. From October 5 to 14, 1995, he toured North America alone with an acoustic guitar. The Quebec performance in this work is just one act of that. This work has a very warm audience sound. The scene is probably a hotel bar, but the intimacy is wonderful. One guitar resonates with a lot of transparency, and Wetton’s beautiful voice pours down. It is a sound that literally gives off the feeling of “being in the same room.” The show depicted by that sound is a treasure trove of masterpieces and beautiful melodies that sum up his career. ASIA and solo are stripped of their ornaments, while KING CRIMSON and U.K. do not rely on ensembles, and only the beauty of the melody and singing voice shines naked. “You’re Not The Only One” unique to that time, and the acoustic versions of “Only Time To Tell” and “Don’t Cry” are also wonderful, but KING CRIMSON is especially moving. This tour also includes the official album “AKUSTIKA – LIVE IN AMERIK”, but “Easy Money”, “Starless”, “Lament”, and “Exiles” that cannot be heard there are played in abundance. The “beauty” that the melody originally possessed, which functioned as a buffer for the tense improvisation in the original. That is the focus that is narrowed down to the maximum, and it is brought out. Yes, what we have here is not a “prog hero” or a “bass master”. It is one beautiful-voiced singer, John Wetton. You can enjoy his gentle voice and feel like you’re in a private room. This is a luxurious album. Live at Bar le D’Auteuli, Quebec, Canada 12th October 1995 Remastered(Upgrade) (67:44) 1.
