Mikell’s is a famous NYC venue that is also famous for producing STUFF. The live performance of the Tropey Band held at this famous jazz club in 1980 was released as the official “Live At Mikell’s”, but this work is a recording of an unreleased live performance held on March 30, 1977, three years before the official release, with the latest digital remastering and excellent sound quality. The audience master recorded near the bass amp used by Will Lee at the very front of the venue was used, and the label’s own remastering was applied, eliminating any harsh noise and resulting in a vivid, high-quality sound that does not feel aged at all. The same luxurious rhythm section as the official release, with Steve Gadd and Rick Marotta’s powerful and unparalleled twin drums and Will Lee’s bass. And in the final jam of the second stage, there was a surprise appearance by Chakan Khan, who was about to make his solo debut!
