Description
The live performance, recorded on two discs from an audience recording of the first live performance at the University of Illinois in 1979, which was held during the American tour accompanying the release of the album “Electric Dreams”, has been released. The members of the One Truth Band are Shankar on electric violin, Stu Goldberg on keyboards, and the rhythm section is made up of Fernando Saunders on bass, Tony Smith on drums, and Alirio Lima on percussion. The stage where Shankar’s beautiful electric violin and McLaughlin’s edgy guitar explode is truly divine and one of the best performances. At one point, McLaughlin changes his guitar to an acoustic guitar, which is also a highlight. However, the highlight of this concert is the last song, Coltrane’s “Resolution”, followed by “The Dark Prince” dedicated to Miles, and then “A Love Supreme”, another Coltrane number. The live performance with the One Truth Band is said to be a technique historical work, but the ensemble is a masterpiece that you should definitely listen to.
