Description
This is a complete recording of the performance at the “ESTIVAL JAZZ” festival held annually in Switzerland on July 1, 1986, when McLaughlin started to work again under the name Mahavishnu in the mid-80s, with official quality stereo soundboard recordings from FM on-air master. First, it was the time when they released their second album after the reorganization, “Adventures In Radioland.” Unlike the 70s, the set list of the Mahavishnu Orchestra featured all of their original numbers from the 80s. The two bottom players who supported them were strong, and Jonas Hellborg, a super bass player from Sweden after the death of Jaco Paz, made a name for himself in this reorganized Mahavishnu. And Danny Gottlieb, who is said to have the world’s best stick technique, is known for his collaborations with Pat Metheny and others, and is a technician drummer who Buddy Rich recognized as being better than him in sticks. And while there is a pop aspect to the explosive jazz/rock of the 70s, Evans’ sax and Baird’s keyboards interact freely over the sturdy bass, and of course McLaughlin also tightens up the band ensemble while showing off his superb playing at key points. As a result, the more you listen to this album, the more you realize that it is a unique sound that reflects the times and is heading towards the future. DISC 1 : 1. It`s Up To You/2.
