John McLaughlin/Germany 1978

After the release of the 1978 album “Electric Guitarist”, the band formed around the members who participated in the album, went on a Euro tour with the One Truth Band. The show in Hamburg, Germany on September 6th was recorded in almost full for 70 minutes, with the latest digital remastering applied to the good audience master that was released recently by taper. The content mainly consists of songs from the album, but also includes Mahavishnu songs such as “Meeting Of The Spirits”. With the participation of L. Shankar and others in the performance, the performance pursues a wider range of musicality than in the Mahavishnu era, and McLaughlin’s guitar also shows a crossover performance at the time, as it was the time when he returned to electric after Shakti. The only recording left from this tour is the Perlin performance the next day, so fans should check it out as a valuable live recording for a short period of time.
