Description

This is a recording of a live performance by John Mayall’s Bluesbreakers, the father of British blues, held at BBC Studios in London on February 9, 1966, recorded on a soundboard from the broadcast master source. The members of “Blues Breakers with Eric Clapton” with Clapton’s participation were already performing “Hideaway”, “Little Girl” and “Parchman Farm” from the album, which was released three months later. The highlight of the album is Clapton’s guitar, which is featured throughout the album. At the time, he did not use effects and was characterized by a straight and natural sound. In particular, “Hideaway”, which later became a standard song for Cream, has a strong blues color due to Mayall’s keyboard and harp, and the backing performance by the outstanding members is also a highlight of this masterpiece. Live at BBC Studios, London, UK, February 9th 1966 : soundboard recording 01. Hideaway / 02. Little Girl / 03. Parchman Farm / 04. Tears In My Eyes John Mayall – lead vocals, piano, Hammond B3 organ, harmonica / Eric Clapton – lead guitar / John McVie – bass guitar / Hughie Flint – drums
