Description
From the famous CD series once released by Mobile Fidelity Sound Lab under the brand name “Ultradisc?”, in 1966, the name “Eric Clapton” was placed among the top British blues guitarists. We have a lineup of works “John Mayall – Blues Breakers With Eric Clapton”! This is an album in which Clapton, who admired Freddie King, plugged a Les Paul into a 50-watt Marshall stack and played the entire album at full volume in order to achieve the same fat sound as Freddie. It was chosen to reproduce the sound closer to the master tape. This CD was released in 1994. Like other CDs, it was produced in limited quantities by borrowing the American 2-track original master tape from LONDON Records (now Universal) at the time (it was produced by JVC (Japan Victor)), but in terms of sound, Normally, CDs emphasize the high and low ranges and have a poor midrange, giving the impression of a “thumpy sound”, but this CD, like other CDs, has a well-balanced sound in all ranges. It gives the impression of being in harmony. This is what makes it possible to reproduce Clapton’s Les Paul sound, which is fat, warm, and sticky. Since its inception in 1982, the sound of the media called “compact disc” has a sharp treble that can pierce your ears, which was once misunderstood as “clear.” In comparison, on this CD, the clarity of each instrument and the delicate sound of the vocals stands out. In other words, this was the result of faithfully reproducing the original analog master. This album is a must-see for British blues rock fans and Clapton fans. The late George Yanagi, a famous Japanese guitarist, even said that this was his favorite album of Clapton’s entire career. Mr. Yanagi believes that this masterpiece of white blues played by Clapton is a heart-touching album that, from the perspective of blues = black people, can be seen as a model for the blues played by Japanese people, who are as heretical as white people. It may have been. The master used for this disc was the master tape of the original US version of the US LONDON label, but since Universal is the parent company of the LONDON label and the current sound source management company, I have mentioned this before. As you can see, in the 2008 Universal fire, most of the artists’ original American master tapes were destroyed, and this American analog master tape of “John Mayall – Blues Breakers With Eric Clapton” was also destroyed. As a result, it is no longer possible to remaster the US master with higher sound quality than the main version. If you think about it, I think it’s good to experience the sound of this board at least once.
