Description
This is a title that completely covers the demo sound sources recorded from 1975 to 1980, called John Lennon’s househusband period, including the first appearance sound sources. When John was a child, the fact that he did not receive the same level of love from his parents was a huge burden on his heart. I was unable to give enough attention to my son, Julian, as the Beatles were just beginning to become popular around the world. Perhaps as a reflection of this, after Sean was born with Yoko in 1975, he stopped all music activities and went into semi-retirement to concentrate on raising children. That period was 5 years from 1975 to 1980, which is a long period of time in terms of the musician’s cycle at the time.If you didn’t release an album for 5 years, people could think you had retired. His posthumous work “Double Fantasy” was released at the end of 1980. As part of its promotion, he has given numerous interviews, and in one of them, a reporter asked him if he had been composing music during the five years of his silence. In response to that question, John said, “I left the guitar hanging on the wall and never touched it.” Of course, this was just a joke to hide his embarrassment as it was his first album in a while, and it is known that he had actually written a number of songs and recorded demo sound sources. As a side note, what makes “Double Fantasy” so great is the fact that it is a collection of songs that have been selected from a condensed collection of the past 5 years, and have been narrowed down to the number of songs that are essentially half of the album. When making the film “Imagine” in 1988, director Andrew Salt marveled at the amount of material available, saying, “I don’t think there are any figures from the 20th century for whom so much footage remains.” However, it seems that John was consciously trying to record this. The underground sound sources left behind by John are truly enormous, and as there is no systematic collection of materials, it is difficult to grasp the entirety of them. The radio program “THE LOST LENNON TAPES”, which was a hot topic in the late 1980s, includes fragments of the sound source that appeared for the first time, and even in recent years, new sound sources have appeared, making it a truly chaotic situation. It has become. In order to systematically compile John’s sound sources, the session series for each album and live sound sources have been completed. Following the studio session and live performance, next is a collection of demo sound sources. It also systematically records demo sound sources from the househusband era from 1975 to 1980. In order to record the demo sound source of John’s time as a househusband, it turned out that it took the equivalent of 10 CDs to build it up with things that were only known in bits and pieces, famous things, and sound sources that appeared for the first time. It turned out that we needed to record a huge amount of time, 800 minutes. Therefore, I decided to release the demo sound source from my time as a househusband in two sets of 5 discs each as a series. Although it is called a demo, it is full of variety, such as playing the guitar, piano, and using a rhythm machine, so the listener will not get bored. Also, by listening to the demo sound source, which is the sound source in the early stages of song creation, you can get a very good idea of the process that goes into creating a song. For example, the famous “Starting Over” was originally called “Don’t Be Crazy,” the lyrics were significantly different, and the song was originally composed as a separate song, but it was reconstructed. You can get a glimpse of what was put together into one song from this collection of demo sound sources. And, most importantly, due to the characteristics of the demo sound source, the instruments are minimal, and the main thing is John’s vocals. You can still enjoy John’s wonderful rock and roll voice. Even without composing music, John could have been top-notch just by singing, and I can hear that voice so vividly in my ears. If you are fascinated by John, you will understand that John’s greatest charm lies in “that voice.” The vocals that touch the heartstrings of the listener cannot be expressed accurately in words, but I think just saying “that voice” is enough to convey the message. The biggest appeal of the demo sound source is that you can fully enjoy John Lennon’s performance as a vocalist due to its simple performance. This work is Vol.1, so it includes demo sound sources from 1975 to 1980 (Vol.2 is scheduled to include all five demo sound sources from 1980). Since it is a demo sound source from the era that was not intended for anyone to listen to or released, many of the songs remain officially unreleased. This includes not only “Free As A Bird” and “Real Love,” which were released as new Beatles songs in 1995, but also “Now And Then,” which was considered as the third new song. From around 1979, there were many early demos of songs that would later see the light of day as “Double Fantasy”, and this was probably because John was conscious that it was time to release a new album. Please refer to the track list for other details. A compilation of demo recordings from the househusband period from 1975 to 1980, including the first appearance. This is the first title that systematically records John’s demo sound source. DISC ONE 1975 PIANO DEMO 01. Tennessee (Take 1) (Watching the Wheels) 02. Tennessee (Take 3) 03. Tennessee (Take 4) 04.
