Description
Two major professional shots from his solo era are the “1969 Rock and Roll Revival Concert in Toronto” and the “1972 ONE TO ONE Concert in New York.” Introducing a 3-disc set that combines 3 of the finest Japanese broadcast versions. The 1969 Toronto performance was released as “SWEET TORONTO”, and the 1972 New York performance was released as “THE ONE TO ONE” and “LIVE IN NEW YORK CITY”. This is not a copy or reproduction of an official product. A version that was broadcast independently in Japan in recent years. Since it is a digital broadcast, it boasts a quality comparable to the official product, but it is also a different version that incorporates the unique features of the program and has been turned into a DVD. I introduced a similar Japanese broadcast version, but this work is a different broadcast, and this work is (much) more complete. There are three programs on one disc, so let’s introduce each one individually. [DISC 1: TORONTO 1969 (2010 broadcast version)] The first thing that appears is “TORONTO 1969”, which was broadcast on satellite on December 12, 2010…that is, four days after the 30th anniversary. At “September 13, 1969: Rock’n’Roll Revival Concert,” which was also included in the live album “Prayer for Peace,” Eric Clapton, Alan White, who later joined YES, Klaus Voormann, and Ono・This is a video from when I appeared with Yoko. This broadcast is basically similar to “TORONTO 1969″, but it is not exactly the same. When played, an interview with D.A. Pennebaker, who was the director of this video, plays. Yes, this work comes with its own documentary to help you get into it. This is quite excellent. Although familiar footage is used except for the director’s live interview, there are vivid comments from those involved, such as “The Beatles were ending around the time we decided to film” and “I want you to see what happened back then.” The real voice is full of emotion. In addition to interviews, narration in Japanese also explains the circumstances surrounding his start as a solo artist, the background of his shows, the formation of the Plastic Ono Band, his time as a househusband, his death, and other aspects of “John who is not a Beatle.” Although there are no new facts, it is very complete as a preparation for the show. Monsieur was in charge of the commentary in a certain broadcasting association version. That had its own flavor, but this work is much smarter and feels more like a work. This work is recorded firmly from the opening scene. The image quality is excellent, with natural film colors. The unprocessed coloring is beautiful, and since it is a digital broadcast, there is no deterioration. What’s even bigger is the program’s unique Japanese subtitles. The frequency is completely different. Subtitles are attached to every word the MC says. Of course, it doesn’t fit into “Oh” or “Yeah,” but “Alright” has the meaning “Okay,” and “Good! Go on, come on!!” has the meaning “It feels good, come on!” All words are attached to a certain word. This allows you to understand the content very naturally and vividly. [DISC 2: THE ONE TO ONE (2012 broadcast version)] The next disc 2 is “THE ONE TO ONE” which was broadcast on October 20, 2012. This was a charity concert held at Madison Square Garden to benefit a facility for disabled children, and it was John’s only full concert since the Beatles stopped performing live, as he had not done a full-fledged solo tour. . On this day, a “daytime portion” and a “night portion” were held, and filming was performed for each. It was edited and turned into a video work. This show is left in two official works “THE ONE TO ONE” and “LIVE IN NEW YORK CITY”, but the contents are very different. This disc 2 is “THE ONE TO ONE”, which is based on the video broadcast on TV in 1972, with several songs cut. For that reason, the time is short at about 40 minutes, but the big thing is that the entire “night part” is used. In fact, the “daytime section” is John’s first real stage performance in a while, and what’s more, it’s on the big stage of Madison Square Garden. John was also nervous and had a hard time showing his true potential. On the other hand, the tension in the “night session” is relieved (somewhat), and the performance is full of momentum. “Come Together” in particular was on a whole other level, with John and Wayne Tex Gabriel of the Elephants sharing the microphone, and at the end John yelled “stop the war!” ), I am very excited to finish it. Another big difference is that it also includes several songs from the opening stages of Stevie Wonder and Roberta Flack. Although such “THE ONE TO ONE” is recorded, this is also from a certain satellite broadcasting station like “TORONTO 1969”, and the quality is still exceptional. There is no documentary, but it is recorded from the opening scene explaining the significance of the show, and you can read the contents with Japanese subtitles. [DISC 3: LIVE IN NEW YORK CITY (2006 broadcast version)] The last disc 3 is “LIVE IN NEW YORK CITY” which was broadcast on January 8, 2006. It was broadcast under the title “Memorial Project for the 25th Anniversary of John Lennon’s Death.” This is the version that was officially released in 1986, and while “THE ONE TO ONE” was the second half of the show, this mainly contains the first half. As mentioned earlier, this is a combination of the “daytime part” and the “nighttime part,” and you can get a glimpse of John’s nervous state. After playing “It’s So Hard,” I couldn’t help but blurt out, “Welcome to rehearsal,” and during “Mother,” I tilted my head while singing, as if my voice wasn’t coming out the way I wanted. Of course, this broadcast also includes Japanese subtitles for the MC, so you can clearly understand the subtleties of these words. Of the three programs in this work, I appreciate the subtitles for this video the most. It contains many message MCs from John and Yoko, which is more important. Of course, subtitles could be seen in the Japanese version of the laser disc, but the translation of this work is unique to the program and is more natural. For example, in the Japanese version of LD, Yoko shouts, “Everyone, now is the time for us to change,” but in this work, it is “Brothers, now is the time to change the world!” The original words are “Sisters and brothers, This is time of change!!” and they don’t explicitly say what will change, but the song that follows is “Sisters O Sisters”, which is about women’s liberation, and “the world” is more fitting. It comes. Also, the highlight “Give Peace A Chance” is also great. “THE ONE TO ONE” mainly recorded the second half of all casts such as Stevie Wonder, Phil Spector, Allen Ginsberg, and SHA NA NA, but this is the complete opposite and records the first half. Here, Yoko reads out a lengthy statement from Hitler, which is difficult without subtitles. Again, the nuances and wording are slightly different, and the Japanese version of LD says, “Russia threatens us with its power,” but it says “Russia uses its rat minions to threaten us.” “We are trying to do that.” Hitler’s words include “little mice,” and this work conveys the nuance of contempt typical of Hitler. This is a 3-disc set of three video works that symbolize solo artist John Lennon, reorganized into the Japanese broadcast version. Each set is a different version set that has a digital quality that is close to the official version, but with unique subtitles and documentaries that give it a new look.
