Recorded as an upgraded version of the historic recording “Last Performance At Newport 1966” (DOMINO), which recorded John Coltrane’s performance in Newport on July 2, 1966, in his final years. This master, which suddenly appeared, is missing the beginning of “My Favorite Things” and has tape deterioration up to around 15 minutes, but it is still a great sound source. This master makes the sounds of each instrument clearer, and the missing opening 34 seconds are recorded in the complete version using “Last Performance At Newport 1966”. The performance lasts for a total of 56 minutes, including 22 minutes of “My Favorite Things”, 11 minutes of “Welcome” with its ballad-like beauty, and 23 minutes of “Leo” with its intense performance, and can be summed up in one word: overwhelming.
