This is a rare sound source disc that will be coveted by fans, as it was recorded live at University Park in January 1963 for nearly 70 minutes, with all the songs corrected by overseas enthusiasts for the tape speeds that were different for each song. Saxophone player John Coltrane, one of the modern jazz giants, has a great influence on musicians of various genres, including jazz. In 1962, Eric Dolphy left his group, and in 1963 they became a quartet with McCoy Tyner (piano), Jimmy Garrison (b), and Elvin Jones (drums), building a golden age. The concert at Penn State University on January 19, 2017 was recorded for a program on WDFM, an FM station specializing in jazz in Ohio. This is a remastered release of the audio master used for this broadcast. They performed a total of six songs including John Coltrane’s signature song “My Favorite Things”, “Mr. P.C.”, and “Bye Bye Blackbird” in a creative performance of approximately 70 minutes.
