The most charismatic musician in the history of jazz, John Coltrane’s 1961 and 1963 performances in Stuttgart, Germany, are recorded in an upgraded version of the finest stereo soundboard sound source that was digitally rebroadcast locally. Two songs from each performance (“Everytime We Say Goodbye” and “My Favorite Things” on November 29, 1961, “The Promise” and “Mr. P.C.” on November 4, 1963) will be broadcast, and the complete version will be broadcast. Although it is not, it is a very valuable new sound source. “My Favorite Things” was played by the Coltrane Quintet, which included Eric Dolphy, at the Stuttgart performance in 1961, and the minor blues that Coltrane dedicated to Paul Chambers was played live with the quartet in 1963.
