John Anderson Jean-Luc Ponty Band/Pennsyalvania, USA 2015 & more

ANDERSON PONTY BAND (APB), a project of former YES member John Anderson and Jean-Luc Ponty, released their debut live album “BETTER LATE THAN NEVER” in November 2015. And while a full-fledged tour began around the time of the release, this title is a complete recording of the first three performances, all master quality, digital audience recording. First of all, they will be touring North America for a total of 18 dates until the Arizona show on November 21st, and disc 1 & 2’s Philadelphia show on October 27th will be the first day of the full tour, with a pre-show in between. And, of course, the live show included Yes classics, Ponti’s signature songs, and new songs written by both artists.Basically, the set was the same on all three days, and what could be said throughout was Ponti’s vivid and colorful All of the Yes numbers, decorated with beautiful violins, are fresh, and the fusion of Anderson’s original melody and Ponti’s melody is perfect. In addition, the band members are all masters of the jazz/fusion world, so the improv parts are different every time, and the set list is even more diverse and rich. Ponti’s “Enigmatic Ocean,” “New Country,” “Jig,” Yes’s “Long Distance Runaround,” “Soon,” Anderson’s “Under Heaven’s Door (Never Ever),” and more. Another point is that there are more songs that are included in the set than on the album, such as John & Vangelis’ “State Of Independence.” If I had to say it, the performance level would be much higher than the current original Yes, and the superb sound was completely reproduced for three performances.
