Description
This early show at the Village Vanguard, a prestigious long-established club in New York, on October 22, 1985, was recorded over 71 minutes, with a good audience master that was released recently by taper, and the latest digital remastering in 2024. This was a time when he was mainly active on ECM, and like the tour after the release of the album “Current Events” released the following year, this live performance by the powerful quartet of Michael Brecker, Peter Erskine, and Mark Johnson, who supported Bill Evans in his final period, is wonderful with Abercrombie’s guitar resonating in a different space with its unique effects, and the sound, which is unusual for a jazz guitarist, is also characterized by the use of chorus-like spatial effects.
