Description
John Abercrombie’s mid-80s live collection. Although Abercrombie is not very familiar to rock fans, he is a guitarist who is mainly famous for his work in ECM. His guitar sound is characterized by a chorus-like spatial effect, which is unusual for a jazz musician. It is a coupling of two live shows, but the main one is a live performance by a quartet at the 1985 Jazz Festival, and the members are luxurious, led by Michael Brecker, who many rock fans probably know. Mark Johnson, a young bassist who played well with Bill Evans in his later years, and Peter Erskine, familiar from Weather Report, are on drums. Abercrombie also plays guitar and synth here, allowing you to enjoy an experimental jazz-rock approach. The next recording was a duo live performance with Ralph Towner, which featured two of ECM’s most popular albums. Although it is a single song, it is long, nearly 24 minutes long, and the two guitars are swung from side to side, making it a very easy-to-listen sound source. From what I hear, the right channel is probably Abercrombie. All are easy to listen to with sound board sound sources, and even those who are new to collector’s CDs can enjoy them.
