Description
Glenn Hughes and Joe Lynn Turner are legendary singers who hold the title of “former DEEP PURPLE.” The official studio album, in which the soulful singing voices of the two artists intersect, is now in stock. That album is the phantom “MADE IN MOSCOW”. It is no exaggeration to say that this is HUGHES TURNER PROJECT’s 3rd album. This album was a masterpiece that only those in the know knew. As you know, Glenn and Joe were active as HUGHES TURNER PROJECT (hereinafter referred to as HTP), and they were recording their third studio work at the end of that period. The key man is Russian politician Michael Meng. He is a huge figure who served as a minister in the Russian government until 2018, but he is a big fan of classic rock. He was the bassist and was also active in a semi-professional band. This work is a studio album produced by Michael Meng, who invited Glenn and Joe to Moscow in September 2004 (Michael Meng was the deputy mayor of Moscow at the time). Originally, it would not have been strange for it to be known worldwide as HTP’s third album, but this album was only released in Russia, and that was only for the first time in July 2005. At that time, a very small number were imported to Japan, but of course they were instantly destroyed. Nowadays, used items are rare items sold at premium prices. This work is a super definitive edition that includes such a rare album and delicious bonus tracks that will complete your collection. [Mysterious Masterpiece “MADE IN MOSCOW”] First up is the main “MADE IN MOSCOW”. This studio work can truly be called HTP’s third album. The main recording members are Glenn and Joe, with Michael Menn’s band providing backing. Glenn also played bass on HTP, but here the full-time bassist and Michael Meng himself play. The sound quality is (of course) absolutely perfect official grade, but the contents are also wonderful. The song was written by Russia, and the lyrics (and probably the melody) were written by Glenn and Joe. His style is orthodox European melodic rock. DEEP PURPLE is extremely popular in Russia, surpassing even LED ZEPPELIN. Perhaps because of this admiration, he places more emphasis on melancholy melodies than grooves, and the melodies are truly delicious. It’s basically British rock, but there’s a subtle exotic flavor to it. “Arianna,” “I’m Alive,” and “The Alchemist” exude a longing for Western rock; “Let The Fire Rage” has a strong folk-like riff; “Warrior Of The World” has a melancholy chorus that tickles your heart; “Forgive Her” has a reggae beat but has a European mood, “On Your Marks” has a melancholy feel from the intro riff, “Old Friend” is a famous ballad with an exquisite combination of two people, and the light yet mysterious phrase dances. “Circus Life”…all of them are orthodox, but they are full of interesting songs with unique hidden secrets that are difficult to understand. What’s more, it is sung by two great classic rock singers. Although it is extremely HTP-like, it is also hard rock that is unique to Russia. [2 bonus tracks of super masterpieces] After the main part of “MADE IN MOSCOW”, there are 2 bonus tracks that will complete the co-starring collection of Glenn & Joe. Both songs are not live performances or demos, but official studio takes with a 100% completeness. If you combine “HTP” and “HTP 2” with this work, you can complete a studio collection where the voices of the two overlap. The first song is “Chosen Man” by Nikolo Kotsev, which was released in 2001, just before HTP started. Nicolo is a guitarist/violinist known as a direct follower of DEEP PURPLE/RAINBOW. He is also famous for BRAZEN ABBOT, and Glenn & Joe all participated in his once-in-a-generation two-disc concept masterpiece “NOSTRADAMUS”. This album was a rock opera with a cast of various singers, with Joe playing the lead role, Nostradamus, and Glenn playing the role of King Henry II of France. The two sang many songs in important roles, but “Chosen Man” was the only duet. Rande, Alanna Miles, and Sas Jordan also participated. Moreover, the rhythm section and keyboards were from EUROPE. Although it is already out of print, it was a masterpiece that sublimated the world of RAINBOW into a gorgeous rock opera. This “Chosen Man” is another moving masterpiece. BRAZEN ABBOT was also a RAINBOW follower just like RATA BLANCA, but the concept work “NOSTRADAMUS” is even more grand and dramatic. Moreover, this song is one of the highlights of the story. The scene is Henry II’s deathbed. Henry II (Glenn) sings the words of his life, saying, “I am the chosen one. But it’s over. I don’t want to die.” Nostradamus (Joe) says, “(I made a prophecy), so why don’t you learn? “Didn’t you?” he replied with a song of regret. These lines are set to a magnificent melody, and the two famous singers sing in a soulful, gospel style. It is a super famous take with a conversational vocal battle that could not have happened in DEEP PURPLE or HTP. And the last song is amazing. This is “Republic Hymn” by THE VOICES OF CLASSIC ROCK, which was also released in 2001. A beloved American song single created in response to the September 11 terrorist attacks, this style has been sung by various singers, such as “We Are The World” and HEAR ‘N AID. That face is too amazing. Glenn and Joe, Bobby Kimball, Jimi Jamison, Mike Reno, Spencer Davis, Pat Travers, Leslie West. Also, Alex Riggertwood of SANTANA, Larry Hoppen of ORLEANS, Nick Gilder of SWEENEY TODD, Peter Rivera of RARE EARTH, John Caferruti, David Jenkins… It is truly a great hymn by the heavyweights of classic rock. Glenn & Joe updated the twin vocal style of hard rock that DEEP PURPLE was proud of in the 3rd and 4th period into the 21st century. The final studio album includes two bonus songs that complete the collaboration collection between the two. This is truly a studio work, the third album following “HTP” and “HTP 2”. A stunning official masterpiece suitable for the New Year of 2019. (50:32) 1. Arianna 2. Let The Fire Rage 3. Warriors Of The World 4. Forgive Her 5. On Your Marks 6. I’m Alive 7. Old Friend 8.
