Description

This live 2-CD set is a must-have for fans, featuring a live performance in Dusseldorf, Germany, by a quartet with Tete Montoliu, one of Europe’s leading pianists, from the European tour accompanying the release of the album “Relaxin’ at Camarillo”. The recording was rebroadcast in superb sound quality and was an uncut recording. Joe Henderson released five albums on Blue Note and became a leading figure in the new mainstream. He has since released albums on Milestone, Verve, and Contemporary, each of which has been highly praised by jazz fans. Unlike the members who recorded the album “Relaxin’ at Camarillo”, this live performance features Tete Montoliu on piano. The blind pianist from Spain established himself as one of the leading pianists of the 1970s, but unfortunately passed away in 1997. The piano, which has overwhelming technique, a sense of swing, and a feeling of groove, is a perfect match for Joe Henderson’s mellow tenor, and the synergy between them creates a driving and exciting performance.
