Description
The Millard Master is Joe Cocker, who is also surprising. Moreover, Millard recorded him in 1991, which is also a surprising time. It seems that the same was true for JEMS, who released it, and the episode about the recording was unusually short (lol). However, Millard recorded it at an interesting time, when the live album “JOE COCKER LIVE” was released the previous year, which included the stage in 1989, and this year the new album “NIGHT CALLS” was about to be released. However, the album was not released in the United States until a while later. Therefore, while the rough composition follows the same live album, the aggressive composition of already playing songs from “NIGHT CALLS” such as “Love Is Alive” and the Blind Faith cover “Can’t Find My Way Home” is fresh now. Moreover, the big hit song “Love and Youth’s Departure” is unexpectedly sung in the first half of the live performance. If this were a Japanese stage, it would be a big excitement, but here in Costa Mesa, the excitement is even greater with “You Can Leave Your Hat On,” which was used in the nostalgic movie “Nine and a Half,” and even more so with Ray Charles’ “Unchain My Heart.” And above all, the sound quality is outstanding, and this time the mirrored quality, the highest peak of audience recording, explodes. The sound image is extremely on, and you can enjoy not only Cocker’s passionate singing but also the backing performance by the luxurious members in a soundboard-like way. In addition, unlike “JOE COCKER LIVE,” on this tour, John Miles (who passed away last year), known to rock fans as a vocalist in Jimmy Page’s band, played a major role on guitar, keyboards, and backing vocals. This was probably made possible by his participation in the recording of “NIGHT CALLS.” As for the piano, Chris Stainton, who has a long relationship with Cocker, is present, so Miles is mainly in charge of the synths. The sound is nostalgic and gives a sense of the times, but this is also a vividness that is unique to mirrored recordings. In addition, the backing band is a luxurious rhythm section consisting of former Wings member Steve Holly and bassist TM Stevens, and the finale “High Time We Went” features plenty of their solos. This development was also seen in “JOE COCKER LIVE,” but Stevens’ bass solo was cut out when the live album was produced, and here the 10-minute performance and each member’s highlights are fully complete. And supported by talented musicians, Cocker sings with a very comfortable feeling. Not only is the set list full of masterpieces that seem to sweep his career, not to be outdone by “JOE COCKER LIVE,” but it is no exaggeration to call it the best audience live album, combining the amazing mirrored quality with it. Above all, you can enjoy the live version of “Love and Youth’s Journey” with the best sound quality mirrored recording! As expected from Millerd. Amazing ultra-high quality sound.
