Description
PAGE PLANT’s Japan tour, where the two legendary parties shook the archipelago for the first time in 24 years. This work was filmed at the “February 15, 1996: Osaka Castle Hall” performance. First, let’s check the concert position from the tour overview. ・February 5-13: Nippon Budokan (6 performances) ・February 15: Osaka Castle Hall [This work] ・February 17: Nagoya Century Hall ・February 19: Osaka Castle Hall ・February 20: Marine Messe Fukuoka A total of 10 performances. In this way, this tour moved west after six consecutive performances at Nippon Budokan. The schedule was four performances in Osaka, Nagoya, and Fukuoka. This work was the concert that was the “Western Japan premiere”. This work starts with an overview of Osaka Castle Hall. Enter from the related person’s entrance and project the rehearsal scene on site. In addition to the orchestra rehearsal on stage, the band’s sound check is also recorded. The two heroes surrounding the drum kit are shown rehearsing seriously with their backs to the camera. This part is, of course, a shot of the people involved, and the quality is superb. It is vivid even to the eyes of today’s digital age, and the image is so beautiful that it can be called a professional shot. And then, the main concert, which is the main part of the film, finally begins. It is a shot looking down from the diagonal left side of the stage (the plant side), and it is a superb view approaching the legendary two with plenty of bold zoom. Because there are so many zooms, the detailed shooting position is unclear, but the consciousness is completely focused on the two, and it even makes you feel the determination to “not miss a single move!” Of course, since it is 1996, it is a video shoot, but the zoom challenges the limits of the equipment at that time, and even the swaying blonde of the plant is beautiful. Furthermore, without being particular about direct shooting, screenshots are freely incorporated in the right place. It’s a shame that the scene is one step darker than the direct shot (that’s how vivid the direct shot is), but it’s a masterpiece that gives you a taste of the professional shot. What makes such a scene even more vivid is the sound. The sound board sound source is also known on this day, but it is precisely synchronized, and the performance and singing voice that shines up close jump into your ears. This is a perfect match with the video. In fact, not any video looks good with a sound board. Even if it is a video with the best image quality, if you cover a sound board with zero distance at a long distance or ultra-long angle, the gap between your eyes and your ears will be intense and uncomfortable. However, the video of this work uses a lot of fierce zoom, even though it is an audience. Therefore, the sound board with no sense of distance and the close view are in harmony without any discomfort. The first day of Osaka, which is drawn with that quality, is also wonderful. The only “Custard Pie” start in Japan is also rare, but it is also good. It was also performed on the fifth day at the Budokan, but it shows a much more complete ensemble than that. Even more precious are “Wonderful One” and “Ten Years Gone”. The former is a new song that was only performed on this day and at the final Fukuoka performance, but the ensemble with THE EGYPTIAN PHARAOHS also appeared was splendid. Even more wonderful is the latter “Ten Years Gone”, a rare song that was only performed once at a Japanese performance. Moreover, here Jimmy Page is carrying a dark brown Telecaster with a bender… This is the only time he has held this guitar, on this day, and in this song. PAGE・PLANT has carved out various famous scenes with various songs, but this is a wonderful song that is one of the highlights. In this work, bonus footage is also included. The first to appear is “Extra Live Clips”. This is a collage of various live shots from different angles than the main story. Many of the masterpiece audiences that are approaching the main story also appear, but even more striking are the shots of the people involved. From one perspective, they look down on Paige from the empty seats right next to the stage, from another perspective, they follow the backs of the two from the backstage, or even approach with a close-up shot just like an official pro shot. Along with the various audience viewpoints, the scene that the people who were there that day saw is depicted in various ways. And at the end, there is another rehearsal. Unlike the beginning, there is only audio recorded with DAT, but the window image of the Shinkansen train heading to Osaka is overlaid, giving you a sense of the mood of the time, “The first day in Osaka is about to begin.” Rehearsal shots by the people involved, masterpiece audience images with lots of zoom, and a great soundboard. This is a video work that makes full use of all the materials produced from “February 15, 1996”. Live at Osaka-Jo Hall, Osaka, Japan 15th February 1996 AMAZING SHOT (synced with SBD) (101:40) 1.
