Description
Jimi’s live sound source release that started with his famous performance “MAUI 1970” in his later years, this time, it is the appearance of an audience album that captures the fresh stage of 1967, which is the early stage of Jimi’s activity. The year 1967 was an important time in Jimi’s career when he achieved success, which is why he received a lot of attention and the number of sound sources tends to increase as the years progress. Among them, there are many sound sources that capture the stage in Sweden from the European tour that started at the end of August. The most famous of these is probably the radio broadcast in Stockholm on September 5th, but the sound source from the same place on the 4th the previous day has also been well known among enthusiasts for a long time. In addition, I am on stage in two places on this day, and there is an audience recording that captures both shows. That alone is a surprising fact, but even more so because both were recorded with surprisingly good sound quality at the time. First of all, it was a live performance at a venue called “Stora Scenen”. Although the sound quality is clear here, the sound of Jimi’s guitar is captured with tremendous sound pressure. Because of that, the balance is a little bit pushed by other instruments, but Jimi was able to tell everything with the guitar, and it’s amazing how his tremendous play approaches with the sound pressure of a soundboard level. Still, the play is compact in a good way, without escalating into improvisation as it did the following year, and it’s very reminiscent of 1967, and the sprightly playing by him and Experience shines through the entire volume. The song that later evolved into “Lover Man” and became a standard repertoire was played in the original “Rock Me Baby” style at this point. The second show, a live performance at a venue called “Dans In”, was recorded using a stereo microphone, and Jimi and his friends’ lively stage was captured with a sense of realism that was very unusual for 1967. I am. In this way, both are sound sources that have been released for a long time because they were captured with surprisingly high sound quality at the time. This time we released such a high-quality sound source based on the latest version uploaded by the familiar Krw_co. However, neither sound source is by any means rare among traders, and just like this time, an info sound source called “2nd Gen Reel” has been around for some time. Both shows are versions that have been copied twice from master cassette to reel tape, but because they are not dubbed via cassette, the deterioration of the sound source is kept to a minimum, and the freshness is hard to believe for 1967. It is a vintage audience that is as beautiful as ever. Rather, the problem may be the recording status of items released in the past. Most of them were versions with degraded sound quality based on out-of-gen cassettes, or were released with noticeable pitch deviations, which are common with Jimi items. In his case, his guitar is tuned a semitone down, so it’s easy to overlook pitch deviations. Furthermore, in the case of “Stora Scenen”, there is also a problem with the recording state of the main book. The problem was that the left channel of the stereo would periodically turn off due to a poor connection. For example, during the interlude of “Foxy Lady”, there was even a recorded problem in which the left channel would turn off after the noise of a poor connection entered. . Therefore, past items continued to be released in a physical state by taking advantage of the intact right channel. Although it is true that there is no noise or stress of turning off, the surprisingly spacious sound image for 1967 has been sacrificed. Therefore, this time I dared to create a CD in its original state. An epoch-making release that lets you experience stereo sound quality on a different level from previously released items such as RATTLE SNAKE’s “SWDISH ADVENTURE” or SCORPIO’s “LIVE AT THE DANS IN!” (this is only the second show). It became. It is true that the left channel problem could not be handled, but the sound quality is still amazing. And the pitch, which had dropped significantly when it appeared on the internet, has been perfectly adjusted, and this is also the first release that recorded the sound source of the two stages on this day at an accurate pitch. As for the performance, I mentioned it at the beginning, but the lively play is wonderful. If you listen to and compare “Catfish Blues” played on both stages, you can understand the greatness of Jimi’s guitar play. Both are very intense plays, yet their expressions are completely different. His guitar is exploding in each show, such as the first show where he pushes hard with a series of hammerings, and the second show where Jimi plays while stepping on the wah-wah pedal after Mitch’s drum solo ends. Moreover, it is also wonderful that it is an audience recording that boasts surprisingly high sound quality for 1967. Jimi quickly gained stardom in the United States after appearing at the Monterey Pop Festival in England, but here in Stockholm he is still on the verge of breaking out. Therefore, unlike the United States, the stage was in front of a quiet audience, and although it was a vintage audience, it was a sound source that was surprisingly easy to listen to. The first show with Jimi’s guitar approaching, the second show with amazing stereo sound, both are real documents of the 1967 Stockholm performance recorded in the best condition, and the performance and sound quality are easy to listen to only from the early experience!
