To commemorate the release of a new compilation of Jimi Hendrix and the Experience’s 1967 BBC radio appearances, we have prepared a CD containing their last live performance, a historic recording from the period that was the counterpart to the BBC recording. The popularity of the Jimi Hendrix Experience, which opened up a new era of rock, reached its peak in 1969. However, Jimi, who felt that his activities with the Experience had reached their limits during the harsh tours and recordings since their debut in 1966, planned to disband the Experience despite their growing popularity. However, without any discussion within the trio, they clearly announced their disbandment during the show that day, and after the live performance, Noel was asked by the media, “I heard you left the band,” which triggered Noel’s departure, and the Experience came to an end. This historic day has long been recorded by audiences, and items such as “THE WINK OF AN EYE” and “BLACK ELVIS PLAYS AMERICA” were released as the only records. Furthermore, ten years ago, the original sound source was released on the official YouTube channel, but they all had problems with gen-dropping and pitch. However, this time, it is a gorgeous CD that is the best version, recorded from a 1st Gen copy unearthed by Jimi’s sound source circle “ATM” and with accurate pitch. However, the sound quality is typical of a vintage audience that feels the 69 era, and the chronic problem of dropouts starting around the two and a half minutes of “Star Spangled Banner” at the end of the live performance, and only a little of “Purple Haze” being captured, remains unchanged even in the 1st Gen state. However, the stability of the 1st Gen and pitch being normal is outstanding, and it is much easier to listen to than the past releases mentioned above. On the contrary, it is incomparable to the official version that has been released for more than ten years, in a disappointing state where the pitch remains low even though the gen-dropping was disguised with equalization. The live itself starts with “Tax Free” just like the LA Forum that was officially released two months ago, but after that, the development is completely different. Jimi’s free-spirited playing gives the impression of saying, “This is the last time, so I’ll do whatever I want!” As you can see from the fact that even the official recordings were used, there was no soundboard on this day. In fact, this is the only record to date. Now that Jimi’s recording circle “ATM” has stopped its activities, this precious last stage of the experience is recorded in the best possible condition.
