Description
The mid-1980s was an unexplored region despite its glorious history. The best soundboard album that conveys that valuable show is now available. This work was recorded at “Budapest performance on July 2, 1986”. This is a stereo soundboard recording born from that FM broadcast. JETHRO TULL welcomed Peter-John Vetessi as Eddie Jobson’s successor, but their activities gradually slowed down. Due to the solo activities of Ian Anderson and Dave Pegg, the scale of the band was shrinking day by day. In order to understand the situation in the 1980s, let’s look back at the schedule from that time. 1984《“UNDER WRAPS” released on September 7th / Dawn Perry joins》 ・August 30th – October 7th: Europe #1 (31 performances) ・October 12th – November 22nd: North America (33 Performances) December 5th-18th: Australia (6 performances) 1985, March 16th: Berlin performance June 28th-July 6th, 1986: Europe #2 (6 performances) ←★Here★ [Summer: Peter-John Vetessi leaves] This is JETHRO TULL from 1984 to 1986. The following year, in 1987, they made a comeback with the release of “CREST OF A KNAVE”, but before that they were extremely low. In 1985, they only appeared on stage once, and in 1986, they only held a mini-tour of 6 performances called “SUMMER RAID 1986”. The Budapest performance of this work was the third concert of “Europe #2”. At that time, Hungary was still behind the Iron Curtain. Around this time, QUEEN’s “MAGIC TOUR” performance in Hungary became a hot topic, but JETHRO TULL was held about three weeks earlier. This show was also broadcast on the radio at a time when Western rock bands were still rare. This work is a CD version of that FM sound board. What’s more, this work is based on the best master that came with the glasses of the famous collector “Lucifer Burns”. Maybe I’m not used to rock broadcasts, but I feel a little roughness at the beginning, but that’s only for about a minute. From there on, the mix becomes very stable, and the separation of each instrument that is unique to the line, as well as the sense of synchronization that penetrates your brain, are amazing. The official level sound of excavation board level with vivid stereo feeling of left and right panning spreads all at once. What is depicted with such a best sound is a show unique to 1986, which is also studded with valuable numbers. From “SUMMER RAID 1986” there were also FM broadcasts of the Milton Keynes performance (UK) and the Dinkelsbühl performance (West Germany), so let’s compare and organize the sets for collectors. 60s (3 songs)・Living In The Past/Serenade To A Cuckoo “Sunday Impressions”/Fat Man “Stand Up” 70s (4 songs)・Locomotive Breath “Aqualung”/Hunting Girl “Mysterious Forest”/ Thick As a Brick “Gerald’s Immaculate World” / Aqualung “Aqualung” 80’s and others (5 songs) Watching Me, Watching You “The Broadsword and the Beast: ★” / Black Sunday “A” /Unknown Dreams (★)・Others: Fly By Night (Ian Anderson) / Level Pegging (Dave Pegg) *Note: Songs marked with a “★” cannot be heard on the FM soundboard at the Milton Keynes or Dinkelsbühl performances. …and it looks like this. You can’t miss the 60’s/70’s numbers played by these members, but what’s most valuable is the 80’s repertoire. All of the songs are rare except for “Black Sunday,” which became a standard for the next 10 years. In particular, “Fly By Night” is a selection from Ian’s solo album, and “Level Pegging” is from Peg’s solo album. In the mid-80s, the number of live performances itself was unusually small before the sound source. It is a masterpiece that allows you to enjoy such a precious era with the finest stereo sound board. Live at MKT Stadion, Budapest, Hungary 2nd July 1986 STEREO SBD (71:29) 1. Locomotive Breath 2.
