Description

JETHRO TULL is a famous band that was loved by many masters, along with the Stones, ZEP, and YES. A new masterpiece has been born in this superb collection. This work is recorded in “Anaheim performance on April 7, 1977”. It is a superb audience recording digitized from Mike Millard’s original master. Millard has been recording JETHRO TULL repeatedly for many years, but 1977 can be said to be the pinnacle of his work. We have previously introduced masterpieces such as “LOS ANGELES 1977”, “PASADENA 1977”, and “ANAHEIM 1977 1ST NIGHT”. First of all, let’s look back on the schedule at that time and organize our collection.・January 14th – 23rd: North America #1 (7 performances) ← *LOS ANGELES/PASADENA 1977・February 1st – 14th: UK (13 performances) {“SONGS FROM THE WOOD” released on February 11th}・March 1st – April 10th: North America #2 (33 performances) ←★Here★・April 16th – 23rd: Europe #1 (8 performances)・May 24th – June 8th: Europe #2 (12 performances)・September 4th – 20th: Australia (15 performances)・November 4th – December 6th: North America #3 (31 performances) ←*Official footage This is JETHRO TULL in 1977. While “LOS ANGELES 1977” and “PASADENA 1977” were released before “SONGS FROM THE WOOD” was released, this Anaheim performance was the 30th performance of “North America #2” immediately after the release. It was the concert the day after “ANAHEIM 1977 1ST NIGHT” at the same venue. Because the Stones, ZEP, and YES are famous, Millard is often thought of as the type to record the same bands multiple times, but in fact it is the opposite. Those three bands are rather exceptions and special. And JETHRO TULL is one of those special bands. Even though he had already recorded “North America #1” twice, he challenged himself to record more. Moreover, he was such a favorite that he frequented the two-day consecutive performance. And this work is a masterpiece that is the culmination of that love. “ANAHEIM 1977 1ST NIGHT (hereafter, the previous work)” was also a masterpiece of the Millard collection, but this work goes even further. Of course, since it is the same venue and the same equipment, the basic quality is very similar, but this work is thicker and richer while maintaining the on direct feeling and clarity. This difference is probably due to the (slight) difference in position. In the previous work, it was recorded from the 11th row in the center of the first floor, but this work is about half that, “row 6”. The “Anaheim Convention Center” where the scene was recorded seems to have a characteristic shape of the ceiling, and this slight difference seems to affect the echo. Millard has produced famous recordings at various venues, but especially the “Anaheim Convention Center” has been researched for many years to explore the sweet spot. This work is recorded in a seat as close as possible to that sweet spot. Moreover, this work updates the highest peak of such transcendental recording. Although the original sound itself is top class even in Millard’s work, there was also a high drop in the right channel from the beginning to “Thick As A Brick”. This work also compensates for that part as much as possible. Naturally, the beauty of the original sound of the mirrored recording is maximized, further enhancing the perfection of the musical work. Such a thick and rich sound depicts the full show, which was praised as the best in 1977. The set is the same as “ANAHEIM 1977 1ST NIGHT”, but it has been a year since the release of the previous work, so let’s organize it again.・Stand Up: A New Day Yesterday (incl. Living In The Past)・Benefit: To Cry You a Song・Aqualung: Wonderin’ Aloud/Cross-Eyed Mary/Aqualung/Wind-Up/Locomotive Breath・Gerald’s Pure World: Thick As a Brick・War Child: Skating Away On The Thin Ice Of The New Day/Back-Door Angels・Minstrel in the Gallery・Too Old to Rock ‘n’ Roll: Too Young to Die・Mysterious Forest – Piblock Suite: Jack-in-the-Green/Songs From The Wood/Velvet Green/Hunting Girl・Other: Instrumental Jam/Symphony No.9, Op.125 (Ode to Joy) … and so on. And the performance that spells out these masterpieces is the life of this work. As was said in the previous work, “North America #2” is generally better than “North America #1”. In fact, “North America #1” was interrupted due to Ian Anderson’s throat problems. Several performances were looked back on in “North America #2”. In other words, “North America #2” is a long-awaited revenge tour, and his physical condition and enthusiasm exceed those of “LOS ANGELES 1977” and “PASADENA 1977”. Legendary taper: Mike Millard, a symbol of recording history. This is a great masterpiece that will be the highest peak recording of JETHRO TULL, which historical greats loved dearly. In terms of quality and content, there is no doubt that there is no objection to saying that this is “more than an official work” when it comes to live albums up to this point. Ideally, we would like you to enjoy the sister works in succession, but this work itself is an absolute work in the Millard collection. A super-class audience recording of “Anaheim performance on April 7, 1977”. This is a masterpiece created by the master of absolute master Millard, and is a sequel to the masterpiece “ANAHEIM 1977 1ST NIGHT (Uxbridge 1455)”. The sound is even better than the previous work, which was highly regarded as a masterpiece in the Millard collection, and it is thicker and richer while retaining the direct feeling and clarity. In the original sound, there was a high drop in the right channel from the beginning to “Thick As A Brick”, but this work has been corrected by unique mastering. It has further improved the perfection as a musical work. It is an absolute one even in the Millard collection full of masterpieces.
