Description
Last year, JEFF LYNNE’S ELO became a hot topic after touring the United States for the first time in 37 years. The best video of the latest tour realized this year is now available. This work was filmed at the “St. Paul performance on July 25, 2019.” This is the spectacular audience shot. A total of 20 performances have been announced for this U.S. tour from June 20th to August 1st, and that’s all they have planned for 2019. The St. Paul performance of this work was the 17th concert in the final stage. This work, where you can witness such a show, is a masterpiece with direct shots that seem to depict the spectacular scenery and screen shots that are almost professional shots. Although the detailed position has not been revealed, from the video it seems that it is a stand seat on the left side of the stage. It’s a slightly oblique angle looking down, but apparently the seats at the scene are at a pretty steep angle, and there’s nothing in front of me anyway. Only the stage occupies the field of view without any shielding. There is a certain distance between the seats since they are stand seats, but that is not a drawback but a benefit. On this tour, there are five huge, building-like screens placed behind the stage, and if you pull them all the way out, you can see them all. You can also enjoy a number of visual performances that evoke images of famous songs. Of course, it’s not just a distant shot. A bold and beautiful zoom offsets that distance. From a distant view, the scene approaches the highlight, and in the final close-up, Jeff Lynne’s figure fills the screen. Moreover, despite the zoom, it is beautiful and easy to view. Even with intense zoom, every detail is clear and delicate, and even when moving to check on each person in a large household, or returning to the screen image, the movements and zooms are slow and smooth, with no blurring. I think both the zoom and the stability are due to the performance of the latest digital equipment, but I also get a sense of the photographer’s sense of making use of them to make things easier to see. And the highlight is the screen shots that start featuring from the middle. The screen at the back of the stage is an image video, but the screen on the side shows plenty of close-ups of the members shot with multiple cameras. I’m also filming the side screens to select songs and scenes, which is amazing. Since the angle is almost frontal, there is no distortion, and the screen is captured neatly outside the frame, creating a beautiful image that can only be seen in multi-camera professional shots. Furthermore, the sound is also excellent. Although this cannot be said to have zero sense of distance, the strength of the core reaching straight to the hand and the delicate transparency down to the details are exquisite. Between songs, the applause rises like steam from below, but it doesn’t come close to the strength of the performance sound, and only the spectacle can be felt deliciously. Although all of the images were great, there was one flaw. That is the fourth song “Showdown”. Apparently, the photographer wanted to make this song his own, so he cut just one song and released it. Therefore, in this work, another video with a similar angle is inserted. We created it so that you can enjoy the full show as naturally as possible. What is depicted with such quality is a show that condenses the glory of ELO. Speaking of them in recent years, there are official works such as “LIVE IN HYDE PARK” and “WEMBLEY OR BUST”, but this work feels like a “live trial version of WEMBLEY OR BUST”. Of course, the size of the venue is completely different, but the famous songs performed are almost the same (although the order of the songs is different). While focusing on the two albums “A NEW WORLD RECORD” and “OUT OF THE BLUE,” it also includes a collection of masterpieces from the golden era, from the debut album “NO ANSWER” to “XANADU.” In addition, he interweaves “When I Was A Boy” from his latest album “ALONE IN THE UNIVERSE” and “Handle With Care” by TRAVELING WILBURYS. In fact, all of the songs except the opening song “Standin’ In The Rain” were single hits. Another point is “Handle With Care”. This song features Dhani Harrison, who is opening for the tour. He shares the microphone with Jeff in a famous song related to his father George. Last year, the miraculous US tour started again. This is a masterpiece video that allows you to experience the full show with a spectacular view with no obstructions and screen shots that only look like professional shots. I can’t say for sure since the final Pittsburgh performance hasn’t ended yet, but it’s probably a superb piece that will symbolize “2019 ELO”.
