This incredible recording features a stunning live performance at a club in Reseda, California in May 1982, at the height of his fame. Jeff Berlin was discovered by Bill Evans and was scheduled to replace Mark Johnson as the first electric bassist in the Evans Trio (though this didn’t happen due to Evans’ death). In the early ’80s, Edward Van Halen came to him backstage at a Bill Bruford concert where he was performing and asked him to join his band, but he simply refused. Jaco Pastorius proclaimed him “a better soloist than me,” Victor Wooten called him “the best bassist on the planet,” Billy Sheehan said “when I hear him play, I want to cut my arm off,” and Geddy Lee of Rush praised him.
