Description
Jeff’s first new album in seven years, “EMOTION & COMMOTION,” became a hit that reached number 11 in the US (by the way, it was number 21 in the UK, the highest in Jeff’s history), and Jeff came to Japan in 2010 with the wind of success all over him.・Beck. The original recording that allows you to experience the scene at its best has been decided to be released. What is infused into this work is the “April 10, 2010: JCB Hall” performance. It is the super best audience recording. This week, the sister work “FINAL COMMOTION” from the same 2010 Japan tour will also appear, so let’s first look back at the schedule at that time and confirm the show’s position. April 5th: Chukyo University Cultural Civic Center April 7: Grand Cube Osaka ・April 8: Archaic Hall ・April 10: JCB Hall ←★This work★ ・April 12: Tokyo International Forum ・April 13 “FINAL COMMOTION” )” There are 6 performances in total. The composition was roughly “3 performances in Western Japan + 3 performances in Tokyo”, and the sister work “FINAL COMMOTION” is a live album from the final day. On the other hand, the JCB Hall of this work was a concert on the first day of Tokyo. This work recorded at such a show is exactly the best audience with “super”. As a matter of fact, since Jeff’s performance in Japan gathers music enthusiasts with discerning ears, it is natural that the recording is superb. The especially popular Tokyo performance is a fierce battleground where Japan’s best performers compete against each other, and the JCB Hall of this work is the only sold-out show among the three Tokyo performances. This work is a legendary recording that won No. 1 at such a harsh show. In fact, the sound flowing from this work is so beautiful that it cleanses your soul. It is a masterpiece that was directly digitized from the DAT master provided by the recording artist himself, but the extremely thick core and fine details with no sense of distance are suitable for being called “just like a sound board.” However, I can’t help but feel that ending it so easily would be disrespectful to the recording. The (extremely faint) sound that rises from the clear core gives an indescribable luster to the bland PA sound, creating a sweet tone like nectar. Of course, the outlines do not become blurred due to the ringing, the crisp tightness does not waver from beginning to end, and even when each note woven by the four members overlaps, it does not mix. It is a beautiful recording that is of a sound board level without any complaints, but also has the “beauty that can only be found in the audience”. What is depicted with such beautiful sounds is a full show in which Jeff’s enthusiastic performance shines. However, it is not a “big name performance.” In fact, 2010 followed a typical pattern for Jeff. The pattern is “the first day’s performance is not good enough, and the more the performance goes on, the better the ensemble becomes.” However, it is not as simple as simply saying that the latter is better, and the pattern is that “you lose momentum and get lost in the middle” (of course, it is not uncommon for people to come to Japan who do not fall into this pattern). In 2010, the first day in Nagoya (April 5th) was the worst, and it improved significantly in the two subsequent performances in the Osaka area. However, there were many mistakes at JCB Hall (this work), and the 2nd Tokyo International Forum performance became the highlight of the great performance. but! It’s too early to give up and think, “What a bad day.” Jeff, who is doing well in the middle of the tour, is making more mistakes because he has too much momentum. This also applies to this work, and despite making many mistakes, Jeff himself is in such a good mood that he can be said to be No. 1 on the tour. After Japan, you can enjoy the high-tension phrases that are full of motivation not only in MC and touching the audience, but also in the performance as well as attacking (and making mistakes). It is the only sold-out performance in Tokyo for 3 days, and that is why it is a masterpiece of a live album where you can enjoy Jeff’s fiery performance.
