Description
From the 1978 Japan tour with the legendary Stanley Clarke, the live performance at the Nippon Budokan on December 1st was recorded over 90 minutes from the newly excavated audience master released in recent years. First of all, while various sound sources have been distributed in the past, a completely different recording tape was excavated this time, and while the second day of the Budokan was quite a rough recording up until now, this new master is of excellent quality with clear and delicate tones that can be heard, and it was digitized directly from the original cassette. However, since about 5 minutes in total, from the start of the show, the whole of “Darkness/Earth In Search Of A Sun” and the first half of “Star Cycle”, were not recorded, it is not complete, but it will be supplemented with another sound source to make it a full recording. And as fans know, the live performances during this period were amazing. Although the band was replaced just before arriving in Japan and they only had three days of rehearsals, the more they performed, the more the ensemble evolved. The last two days at the Nippon Budokan are said to be the best, with Jeff flying from the beginning, the slide in “Freeway Jam” is amazing, and the riff starts, and the latter half of “Cat Moves” is also sharp. Also, “Rock ‘n’ Roll Jelly” starts with Stanley Clarke’s half-count, but he makes a mistake at the end, but he shows off a tremendous phrase in “School Days”, his highlight. In any case, all of Beck’s 1978 tours, which are highly regarded as the best of his many visits to Japan, are must-listens. Disc 1 : 1. Intro. 2. Darkness/Earth In Search Of A Sun 3. Star Cycle 4.
