Description

The latest version of Jeff Beck is unstoppable! Jeff Beck announced his official live album “JEFF BECK LIVE+” and started his tour. The other day, “PORT CHESTER 2015”, which included the first day of the tour, was very popular, but even more powerful recordings are appearing one after another. Moreover, most of them are super sounds that transcend the dimension of “sound board or audience”. In the first place, the customer base that loves Jeff is highly sensitive to sound. On top of that, he pays attention to the “latest Jeff”, so his sense for the latest equipment and sound quality is outstanding. These are all recordings that are suitable for Jeff, who is running at the far north of guitar music, and expands the possibilities of audience recording. Among all of these, this is the one that made me think, “This is it!” “PORT CHESTER 2015” was also a thoroughly high quality sound, but this work is no less. Although both are extremely clear, compared to “PORT CHESTER 2015”, which has a comfortable big bass, this work has a center of gravity in the midrange, and the overall balance is more balanced and natural. “PORT CHESTER 2015” was improved several levels by the remastering effect (not that it was overly tweaked, but the recording was suitable for remastering), but the sound of this work is similar to the original recording. It’s an ideal sound. Having said that, this work is not completely untouched either. In order to push this recording to the ultimate level, we have adjusted the intense hall reverberation. We have created a sound that is easier to listen to while paying close attention to the natural nuances that characterize this work. The balance of the guitar and vocals being one step forward may be said to be even more like a soundboard. What is different from “PORT CHESTER 2015” beyond the sound is that it is a ZZ TOP coupling performance. Last year, we toured with ZZ TOP, but Dusty Hill fell on the tour bus and hurt his back, so the tour was canceled. Jeff completed the scheduled dates on his own. This time, 8 performances were held from April 30th to May 10th, with a schedule that could be called a revenge. I’ve heard that ZZ TOP was also a passionate performance to recover their reputation, but perhaps that enthusiasm has transferred to Jeff, who is now in top form again. The set is short because it is a coupling performance, but you can still enjoy “Nine”, “Yemin”, “Lonnie On The Move”, and “You Never Know”, which are not available on “JEFF BECK LIVE +”. In particular, I’m glad that “Lonnie On The Move” was not heard in “PORT CHESTER 2015” (although I’m sad that there is no new song “My Tiled White Floor”). More than that, the short set itself is delicious, and it translates into concentration and instantaneous power in the performance. Jeff is an artist whose moments of inspiration shine more than heaps of old melodies, so this ability to concentrate is an irreplaceable virtue. What’s more, it’s not edited like the official live album, but instead it’s a 100% recording of the accumulation of moments that will never return, so 1 CD, 76 minutes, is a bundle of bliss. Currently, Jeff has finished his schedule with ZZ TOP and is continuing his solo tour once again. There may be more great recordings in the future, but there may not be a performance as crisp and tight as this one. At “PORT CHESTER 2015”, the tension that was unique to the first day was falling in a good direction, but in this work, the band itself is warming up, and the 1 CD’s worth of time is packed with great performances full of uninterrupted concentration. The latest version of Jeff Beck’s famous live album that was made possible because of the coupling. Please add it to your collection.
