Description
This is a complete recording of the performance at Cobo Arena in Detroit on October 16th, the middle of the US tour after the release of “There and Back” in 1980, with a high-quality audience recording for that time. First of all, compared to the “Wired” period, which had a strong jazz/fusion color, the performance was the most rock-like, with hard and aggressive playing. And of course, Beck’s hard rock approach to playing that reminds me of BBA, as well as the battle with Tony on “Space Boogie” and “Freeway Jam”, Moe Foster’s melodic bass on “Cause We’ve Ended As Lovers”, and Simon’s superb drum solo inserted in “Scatterbrain”, the abilities of each member are incredible. In addition, the encore “Going Down” with Beck’s vocals is also worth listening to, and it is a must-listen item that recalls the legendary performance in Japan that took place in the past two months.
