Description

The soundboard album that can be said to be a “live performance version of “BLOW BY BLOW”” has been revived. Board. Yes, it is a brush-up of the masterpiece “THIS BLOWS (Import)” using the latest technology. The sensation in 2007 when “THIS BLOWS” appeared was amazing. After all, it was the “BLOW BY BLOW” era where there was no notable soundboard until then, but the entire two performances appeared at once. Moreover, the quality was superb. Although it felt too raw to be called “official grade”, the clear freshness with no distortion or muddiness was wonderful, and the feeling of flowing directly into the ears, which is unique to a sound board, is just as vivid. It was the best version of the famous album “BLOW BY BLOW”, but even more so, the “1975 Jeff Beck” that added the thrill of live performance sounded in my ears. Of course, it sold out in an instant and was out of print for a long time. Eight years have passed since then. This time, we have revived that masterpiece sound board by making full use of modern level technology. In the first place, “THIS BLOWS” was a clear departure from the online sound sources of the time, which were full of noise and unstable pitch, and was very well received with comments such as “far more beautiful” and “absolutely natural.” There’s no point in flashy equalizing it. The sound of this work is based on the theme of “further on-site sensation”, with emphasis on clear sound and vividness of nuances. In fact, compared to “THIS BLOWS” which was biased towards the midrange, the wide three-dimensional effect of this work is wonderful. Disc 2, which contains “May 10th,” is particularly striking. In “THIS BLOWS”, the left channel has dropped high, and although it was clear, the left and right balance, which was not good, has been improved wonderfully. Please listen to the “She’s A Woman” intro with headphones. In “THIS BLOWS”, the rolling drumming gave the feeling of the sound gathering at the back of the nasal cavity, but in this work, it has transformed into a sound space that seems to wrap around the body. Of course, it’s not the artificiality of pseudo-stereo, but the original stereo feeling that makes the most of it, and the sound of each instrument can be heard distinctly. Actually, there is a scene where Jeff can’t keep up with the beat and the rhythm becomes unstable, but it’s a “scene feeling” that you can almost see his expression in that moment. The taste of such a three-dimensional sound world really pushes up the taste of “1975 Jeff Beck.” Bernard Purdy, who gave us an excellent sense of time in “She’s A Woman”, has an exquisite fill-in that takes it to double ten in “Definitely Maybe”. Wilbur Bascom also played an aggressive bass solo using six consecutive beats and a half in the second half of “Constipated Duck,” and in the intro to “Freeway Jam,” he roared out a clear, flexible groove with an empty pick. In particular, the high-speed running from “Air Blower” to “Got The Feeling” on Disc 2 is the best. Even in “Cause We’ve Ended As Lovers,” in which ally Max Middleton’s singing spirit shines, the ensemble in the latter half of the song becomes one with three double beats and leans in as one, and the sharpness of the guitar freely flies through it. If you say that… In “THIS BLOWS,” the guitar feels like it’s flowing from within, but in this work, it dances freely in a three-dimensional ensemble. The highlight of this work is “Power” at the end of disc 2. MAHAVISHNU ORCHESTRA’s John McLaughlin will be a guest and the guitar battle will explode. The fierce battle between the greatest masters of our time is so intense that the only word that can come to mind is “sparks flying”. Jeff, who is as sharp as he was in “BLOW BY BLOW,” collides head-on with McLaughlin, who continues to scale out. That is the sound board in your ears, and it attacks from the left and right with excellent stereo feeling. It’s a rare collaboration in Jeff’s long history, and it’s the most thrilling moment. Jeff, who has just created the famous album “BLOW BY BLOW”, will perform live performance versions of 7 of the 9 songs on the album, and you can listen to it on the best stereo sound board. This luxurious edition has been further upgraded. Moreover, this is not just a formal equalization, but one that firmly captures the meaning of the performance and determines the mastering that the sound source requires. Because it is the best soundboard album, it is a two-disc set that seeks the ultimate. By all means, please reunite with Jeff from the “BLOW BY BLOW” era, who has been revived with a vivid sound in this work. Masonic Temple Theatre, Detroit, MI.
