Description
Jeff Beck from the “YOU HAD IT COMING” era, when he was pushing towards the techno rock route. Introducing the super best stereo sound board album. This work includes “London performance on July 29, 2001”. This is a soundboard recording recorded at the traditional “Hyde Park”. A festival-style concert has been held in Hyde Park every year since 1998, and this year, THE BEACH BOYS, Elton John, Tom Jones, STATUS QUO, Sting, SUPERSISTER and others participated. Jeff Beck was the second in line after THE BEACH BOYS. First, let’s check the show’s position from the schedule at that time. ●2001《“YOU HAD IT COMING” released on February 6th》・February 15th-March 23rd: North America #1 (24 performances)・July 6th-29th: Europe (11 performances) ←★ Coco★●2002《“Dirty Mind” won Grammy Award on February 27th》・April 13th: Performed at ROCK FOR THE RAINFOREST・August 1st – September 5th: North America #2 (7 performances)・9 March 12th-14th: UK (3 performances) This is Jeff Beck after the release of “YOU HAD IT COMING”. In 2002, there were many event-like stages, and the main part of the tour was in 2001. The Hyde Park performance of this work was also its final performance. This work, which records such a stage, is truly an official quality masterpiece. The quality of “sound boards” varies, and even if you say “official grade”, it is difficult to say. There is a wide range of tracks, from ones that can only be used as bonus tracks to masterpieces. Even in light of that standard, this work is a masterpiece. Not only the sound quality, but also the mix, stereo feeling, stability, freshness… Even though I searched for him at every possible point, I couldn’t find him. It is truly a live album that “replaces the official work”. The show depicted with that sound is a valuable live performance from the “YOU HAD IT COMING” era. There was no Japanese performance on this tour, so let’s organize it here. ●GUITAR SHOP (2 songs)・Where Were You/Behind the Veil ●WHO ELSE! (5 songs)・Brush With the Blues/Blast From the East/Angel (footsteps)/Psycho Sam/What Mama Said ●YOU HAD IT COMING (5 songs)・Earthquake/Loose Cannon/Dirty Mind/Nadia/Rosebud ●Others・A Day in the Life (The Beatles)…and so on. It’s a short set of about 60 minutes just for the festival, but it includes “WHO ELSE!” and “YOU HAD IT COMING”. With the backing being Jennifer Batten, Steve Alexander, and Randy Hope Taylor, it is the culmination of a techno-rock style. Of these, the “WHO ELSE!” number and “A Day in the Life” could be enjoyed on the definitive album “DEFINITIVE TOKYO 1999″ that came to Japan in 1999, but the rest have been completely replaced. In Japan, where “YOU HAD IT COMING” was pre-released, I was able to hear some new songs when I came to Japan in 2000, but I didn’t play “Behind the Veil”, which had an interesting intro, or the rare “Rosebud/What Mama Said” there. (By the way, when they came to Japan in 2000, the drummer was also Andy Gangadine). After this, Jeff parted ways with Jennifer and others, and moved forward with his ambitious work “Jeff,” which also included drum and bass. This work is an official live album that marks the end of the techno rock era. It goes beyond the dimension of a mere masterpiece sound board, and is a musical work that symbolizes “an era” for Jeff. It is truly worthy of being called a “decision board”, and is one that should have been left by the official. Live at Hyde Park, London, UK 29th July 2001 STEREO SBD (58:38) 1. Where Were You 2.
