Description

A miraculous masterpiece left behind by the legendary taper is now available. The name taper is… Cozy Powell! This work is one of the Cozy Tapes that produced many masterpieces, but it is an audience recording made by Cozy himself, which is rare among them. In fact, Koji has a penchant for recording. A detailed diary was published in EL & POWELL, but the reason why many Cozy Tapes are masterpieces is not only because they are the belongings of the people involved, but because of his record habit. This work is a live album where that recording habit exploded in the audience. Cozy turned the recorder on “March 10, 1981.” It was my former ally Jeff Beck’s Hammersmith Odeon performance. I don’t know what Coji was thinking when he turned on the recorder, but what’s amazing is his skill. What came out of the master cassette (Sony BHF90) was an ultra-sound so intense and clear that it was hard to believe it was from the 80s. Speaking of the 1980s, we entered a time when the advancement of equipment was accelerating and famous tapers were making their name in various parts of the world, but among them, it is definitely a great sound that ranks among the top class. Of course, he may have been watching the show from a special seat because he is a fellow musician, but even so, the sound was recorded smoothly without a single conversation or shake, and he was definitely used to recording. I had no idea that the famous drummer was also a top-notch recorder… Moreover, the main character of the live is Jeff Beck from the famous album “THERE AND BACK” era. Furthermore, Jimmy Page also jumps in on the last “Going Down”, and you can listen to a valuable collaboration. As expected, the sound of this part is a little distant due to the commotion of the venue, but it is still a high quality sound that surpasses previous releases. The special feature of this work is, after all, the preciousness of being “a work by recorder Cozy.” However, it is the best gem as a pure music record and live album, ignoring the person who recorded it. However, Cozy’s tape is only 56 minutes in the second half of the show after “Diamond Dust”. This is the second disc of this work. Therefore, for the first half of the show, we used “LED BOOTS” that had already been released on the same day, adjusted the pitch that was significantly out of order in the previous release, and created the best version that overturned the previous image and made it Disc 1. However, even though it is called the “best version”, the super beautiful cozy recording is still on a different level. Judging from “LED BOOTS”, it was definitely not a bad recording at that time, but the sound of Cozy recording is far superior to that. Even from this point, Cozy’s transcendental recorder comes through. In this way, we have included Disc 1 to allow you to experience the entire show, but the life of this work is the cozy recording Disc 2. Although it may not be the original way of listening, first-time users should first enjoy Disc 2 over and over again. On top of that, please enjoy Disc 1 with the intention of checking it. Cozy Powell was a legendary drummer and a great taper. What was he thinking when he visited Jeff, watched the show, and recorded it? A unique masterpiece that not only has a super clear sound, but also expands your imagination to the folds of Koji and Jeff’s hearts. The second half of the show (disc 2) includes an ultra-high quality audience recording master recorded by the late Cozy Powell in the audience seats.
