Description
The 1975 Japan tour began with an event unlike any other in Jeff’s history of visiting Japan. To commemorate the birth of “SAPPORO 1975″, which revived that first day with the finest sound, we present to you the Hawaii performance just before coming to Japan. This work is an audience album containing the “Honolulu performance on July 30, 1975”. Jeff developed a cold in New Orleans on July 26th, and the next show in Atlanta on July 28th was canceled. This Honolulu performance was a stage that was forced even while trying to recover, and for many years it was thought that “it must have been a really tough live”. This work turns this semi-established perception on its head. This recording first appeared in the world as “IN HAWAII 1975”, and above all, it is a clear and vivid CD made directly from the original master (recorded by Japanese students who participated in the summer training program in Hawaii, with photos of the tape and ticket!) The sound became a big topic, but the live performance itself engraved with that sound was also amazing. Even among the many recordings from the “BLOW BY BLOW” era, a great performance that can be said to be the highest peak has come out. The Sapporo performance was also a wonderful performance, but in terms of tension, this work is better. From the opening song “Constipated Duck”, which was not performed in Sapporo, the guitar is sharp and clear. Each note is sharp, and even the picking nuances convey the country’s name. I can’t believe this is the sound made by someone suffering from poor health… Furthermore, the full set includes plenty of songs such as “Power,” “Got The Feeling,” and “Diamond Dust/Jeff’s Jam,” which were not performed in Sapporo. In particular, Stanley Clarke’s covers “Power” and “Jeff’s Jam” are valuable takes that were only played on this tour. Due to its sound and excellent performance, it is a famous recording that was later made into a CD, but in this work, the original cassette was recorded at the scene, with the raw sound with a good treble crisp. In exchange for such a passionate performance, Jeff’s health deteriorated. This is a masterpiece that captures the body-searing performance with the best clear sound.
