Description
The phantom third term JEFF BECK GROUP connects the missing link between the second term JBG and BB&A. The precious live album will be released. This work includes “Chicago performance on August 8, 1972”. This is a vintage audience recording. This week, “DEFINITIVE ROUNDHOUSE”, which permanently preserved the last show of the second period JBG with the highest quality ever, will also appear, but the final performance was “July 23, 1972”. The next day, on July 24th, an official declaration of dissolution was announced, and the second generation JBG collapsed. And Jeff quickly formed a new band. They welcomed the strong rhythm section of VANILLA FUDGE/CACTUS, Tim Bogart and Carmine Appice, who they had wanted for a long time, and their partner at the time, Max Middleton, remained. The five-piece group, fronted by the phantom singer Kim Milford, called themselves the new JEFF BECK GROUP and began a US tour on August 1st, one week after announcing their disbandment. However, this lineup was extremely short-lived. After just six performances, Kim was fired and Bob Tench returned. The tour continued after that, but Max and Bob also left the group when the US tour ended. This eventually led to the birth of the super trio BB&A. Now, in such a situation, this work is an audience recording that testifies to the Kim Milford era when there were only 6 performances. It’s already a dimension that I’m thankful for just by existing, but it’s amazing that it blows away its preciousness. When it comes to vintage recordings, there is a type where you search for a performance in a room full of noise, or where you correct the explosions and roars in your head, but this work is completely different. Although there are some places where one channel becomes unstable or rough due to tape deterioration, the basic recording quality is excellent. The powerful core jumps into your hand through the clear air, and the details are delicate. You can clearly see Bogart & Appice’s powerful rhythm work and Max’s delicate phrasing. Of course, Jeff is the main character, and it is clear that he is also the main character in the on-site PA balance, and you can enjoy his selfish and capricious guitar at the level of picking nuance. Moreover, this work has refined such a valuable master with careful mastering. One channel that causes unstable sound dropout is corrected as much as possible, and even the slightest noise is carefully processed one by one. Achieved a natural listening response. In a show drawn with such a sound, Kim is definitely interesting. Apparently, Jeff was fired because he was dissatisfied with his stage performance, but his singing ability is sufficient as he appeared in the musical “Jesus Christ Superstar.” Although he does not have the deep flavor of Bob, his wild and tough singing style is directly connected to the later BB&A worldview. As expected, the live album with only audio doesn’t give us a good idea of the performance, but surprisingly, they might have become a great band even if they left him in. Additionally, the set is unique. Basically, it is a style that inherits the second period JBG, but it also includes “Lose Myself With You” and the precious “Over The Hill”, which were also featured in BB&A’s debut work. It is a live album that is a “missing link” not only for the members but also for the set and performance. The 3rd JEFF BECK GROUP disappeared into the darkness of history without producing any work, leaving only Bogart & Appice behind. This is a live album that allows you to be present at a historical scene in a period of transition with 100% original sound. The highest peak album polished by meticulous mastering. ★Bob Tench, Koji and others perform live after being fired. Bob Tench will be recalled immediately after this live performance. It was held at the same location in May, but this time in August, the appearance was different. It seems unclear whether vocalist Kim will be fired on this day or the next day on the 9th. ★Phase correction. Improved the large level drop in several single channels.
