Description
A high-quality stereo audience recording of the December 3rd Oakland Coliseum performance from the 1989 “Guitar Shop” US tour. There are multiple sources for this day’s sound source, but this take is different from that, and includes a new source that appeared with the explanation of “1st Gen” from the master cassette that appeared in recent years. The freshness and localization of the sound is excellent, and although the sound feels a little distant, the sound itself is recorded clearly, and you can enjoy amazing sound in various places. Since it was recorded in a large venue, some of the audience’s voices are picked up, but since there is no one nearby who is shouting, you can listen to the performance without stress. It is worth mentioning that parts with a small number of sounds were recorded with amazing clarity and excellent sound just like line recording (Behind The Veil, Goodbye Pork, Pie Hat, etc.). Even in the exciting parts where the whole song is included, there is a sufficient sense of separation, allowing you to enjoy an exquisite performance. Along with Terry Bozzio’s intense and dynamic drumming, you will be overwhelmed by Jeff’s playing that is full of groove in all directions. When it was released, there was a lot of hiss and the pitch was a half tone higher, but everything has been corrected to the best possible condition. As a good sample from Beck’s 1989 tour, “VEIL OF DARKNESS” to be released this time, fans can definitely say that it is a sound source worth adding to their collection.
