Description
After the band’s 1981 album “TIN DRUM” was released, JAPAN decided to break up. This DVD contains a 97-minute complete recording of the live performance at Kyoto Kaikan on December 15th from the performance on their farewell tour in Japan in 1982, which was recently unearthed for the first time. The highlight of this last tour, the performance at Nippon Budokan on December 8th, was aired on FM, so while there is also a soundboard recording, the main point is that you can listen to all the songs, including “Fall In Love With Me”, which was cut there, from the original audience tape, which is full of realism. In place of Rob Dean, who left the band the previous year, they welcomed Masami Tsuchiya from Ippudo as guest guitarist, and many Japanese guests also participated in this Japan tour. Furthermore, the set list included all songs from “TIN DRUM” except “Talking Drum”, and all the other songs were from “QUIET LIFE” onwards, and as if reflecting the numbers, the performance was cool throughout, which made it feel like the end. This tour is also known for the official live “OIL ON CANVAS”, but it also included “Alien”, “European Son”, and “Life In Tokyo”, which were not included in the album. Moreover, the live performance at Nagoya City Public Hall on the following day, the 16th, was their last live performance as JAPAN, so this is also a valuable record now. Since their debut, their popularity in Japan was greater than in their home country, and here is their last Japan tour, which is still considered legendary, and which ended their history in Japan.
