Description
This is a slightly rare live recording of Jaco Pastorius. What’s unusual is the set list, which, as the title suggests, is interspersed with standard jazz songs. Coltrane-like player Eizo Lawrence participates on tenor saxophone, and Coltrane’s “Mr. P.C.” and “Naima” are featured. Furthermore, there is also the number of McCoy Tyner, who Lawrence used to work with. The extremely rare song is Miles’ classic “So What,” which begins with John Davis’ piano responding to Jaco’s bass. Jaco also plays the electric bass on these jazz songs, adding a color never seen before to each song. “Purple Haze”, in which Jaco himself says, “I’m the reincarnation of Jimi Hendrix,” is as violent as a rock band, with distorted bass and guitar. Since 1984, Jaco hasn’t been in good health and hasn’t given many great performances, but here we are discovering a new great performance. It is also a double circle that you can listen to Jaco’s bass clearly with the sound board sound source.
