From the 2017 Japan tour, the performances of the three consecutive days in Tokyo on October 17th, 18th, and 19th at Orchard Hall are compiled with multi-IEM + original AUD matrix source sound source, and the title is here on 6 CDs. And the first three of the six performances of this Japan tour were three days in Tokyo. First of all, it should be noted that the set list of the six performances in Japan was the same for only seven songs, and the opening here in Tokyo was all “The Waiting” dedicated to Tom Petty, who passed away suddenly in October, and the set contents were completely different each day after that. Therefore, in addition to the familiar “Late for the Sky” and “The Late Show”, the band also performed “Father On”, “Love Needs a Heart”, “Somebody’s Baby”, “Sky Blue and Black”, “Here Come Those Tears Again”, and other songs that are rare in recent live performances. In addition, the band performed “Lawyers, Guns and Money” and “Carmelita” by Warren Zevon, as well as “Melissa”, a cover dedicated to Gregg Allman, which was also performed in Nagoya afterwards, are extremely rare covers that have only been sung a few times on the past stage. The band members were also the same as those who came to Japan two years ago, and as Jackson calls them a “dream band”, they were all first-class and perfectly in sync. The two guitarists, Greg Leeds and Val McCallum, are especially great, with Greg on pedal steel and Val on Telecaster and Firebird, making for a great combination. In “The Long Way Around,” Val takes an electric solo, while Greg plays a delicate acoustic backing. In “Looking East” and “Running on Empty,” the pedal steel and Firebird exchange thrilling solos, giving you goosebumps. And as bonus tracks, three additional songs that were not performed in the main program were recorded from the sound check rehearsals held before the doors opened for each show, making this a must-have collector’s edition of the 2017 Japan tour.
