Description
In 1978, Jackson Browne was in the midst of a major boom after his live album “RUNNING ON EMPTY” achieved astronomical success. Introducing the Mirrored Collection, which conveys the scene. Speaking of Mike Millard, he is a legendary taper that needs no introduction. He is a great man who has become a symbol of recording history, but what is included in this work is the “June 8, 1978 Long Beach Performance” recorded by him. It is a transcendental audience recording. The biggest point of this work is the tremendous sound that can even surpass the famous album “RUNNING ON EMPTY”, but first of all, the show position. Let’s look back at the overall picture of “RUNNING ON EMPTY TOUR”, which was the last large-scale tour in the 70s. 1977《RUNNING ON EMPTY” released on December 6th》・December 31st: Inglewood performance 1978・January 14th-29th: North America #1 (9 performances)・February 22nd: Nashville performance・March 18th – April 21st: North America #2 (21 performances) ・June 8th – 11th: North America #3 (3 performances) ←★Here★ ・August 5th – September 2nd: North America #4 (15 performances) This is the progress since the release of “RUNNING ON EMPTY”. The style consisted of three main legs: “North America #1”, “North America #2”, and “North America #4″, with one-off shows held in between. Among them, “North America #3” is a mini section of three consecutive performances with “MOUNTAIN AIRE 1978” as the main theme. The Long Beach performance of this work was a warm-up concert on the first day. This work recorded at such a show is a beautiful recording of brilliance. It has been digitized directly from Millard’s 1st Gene Cassette, and its beauty will take your breath away. Although it must have been an audience recording that picked up the sound of the hall without having to listen to it with headphones, the sharpness of the details and the strength of the core that makes you feel no distance make you forget the existence of the atmosphere. If you analyze it microscopically, there is a ringing component, but the atmosphere does not cloud it, but rather enhances the clarity. A visual analogy would be a glass of red wine. The crystal glass is crystal clear, but it definitely exists, and the wine poured into it appears even more transparent. The sound of this work also has that transparency. Even at the scene of this work, the performance sound and singing voice are output from the PA, but when Millard records it spatially, the distance is not created and only the brilliance increases. It is a beautiful recording that shows off its magic more than anything else. Moreover, this work updates the pinnacle of such design. The original source of this work was released by the prestigious excavator “JEMS”, but although the original sound is faithful to the “truth of the master”, it is said that it is not in accordance with the “truth of performance”. It was difficult. The pitch is off by about a quarter of a semitone (maximum), and there is a slight lumpiness in the bass compared to the expansion of the mid and high frequencies. Furthermore, during the duo section with David Lindley, there were some people who coughed in the quiet mood (I coughed about 2-3 times per song, only in the opening section). Of course, the original sound is more than superb, but this work has been thoroughly balanced and alleviates coughing. By maximizing the potential of the original sound, we pursued the perfection of a musical work that closely resembles the “performance itself.” What is depicted with such a top-notch updated sound is a glorious full show that sums up the 70’s. As mentioned above, the performance begins quietly with Lindley as a duo, but after a while the performance shifts to a band format. Let’s organize the contents here. JACKSON BROWNE (6 songs), Jamaica Say You Will (★), Looking Into You (★), Something Fine (★), Song For Adam (★), Rock Me On The Water, Doctor, My Eyes FOR EVERYMAN (3 songs) )・The Times You’ve Come (★)/These Days/For Everyman LATE FOR THE SKY (4 songs)・Fountain of Sorrow/Before the Deluge/For A Dancer/The Road And The Sky THE PRETENDER (5 songs)・Linda Paloma (★)/The Fuse/Here Come Those Tears Again/Your Bright Baby Blues/The Pretender RUNNING ON EMPTY (8 songs)・Cocaine/Rosie/Running on Empty/Love Needs A Heart/Nothing But Time/You Love the Thunder/The Load-Out/Stay *Note: “★” is a duo with David Lindley. Other songs are performed in band format. …and it looks like this. All of the first five albums have been selected evenly, and the famous songs from each album have been reassembled into one show. If “RUNNING ON EMPTY” was not a new song or a cover, but a regular live album… it is a full show that seems like such a delusion has taken shape as it is. And the mood of witnessing such a masterpiece rush was amazing. Although it has been repeated several times, the beginning is an acoustic duo style, but as each song ends, a tremendous cheer erupts. In fact, at the peak of the cheers, the sound was so loud that it almost cracked, and even when listening to the recording, you could feel the wind pressure. Since it is a mirrored recording, it is not noisy and difficult to listen to, but its popularity and enthusiasm are unusual. Although it was known as a historical fact that “RUNNING ON EMPTY” was a huge hit, the tremendous popularity of the song at the scene was far beyond imagination. Success comes at a time and place loved by God, but how special and miraculous is that scene? It is also a live album where you can experience it with Mirrored’s brilliant sound. A full show condensing Jackson Browne’s glorious 70’s into 2 hours and 28 minutes. It is a masterpiece of a live album vacuum-packed by a legendary recording artist with a crystal clear sound. It is a two-disc set that is a world musical heritage that is on par with the famous album “RUNNING ON EMPTY”…or even better.
