Description

DeJohnette’s New Directions project, a project that poured all of his talents as a drummer, pianist, and musician into, is a two-disc set that was recorded live at Old Cabell Hall in Charlottesville in 1992 on a superb high-quality soundboard for the first time! The members are DeJohnette, Eddie Gomez, Lester Bowie, and John Abercrombie in a quartet arrangement, and the album begins with “Bayou Fever,” followed by the beautiful ballads “Silver Hollow” and “Timeless” with DeJohnette’s piano and Bowie’s trumpet, the familiar “One Hundred Women,” and ends with DeJohnette’s spectacular drumming explosion on “Solar.” This is a great performance that you will want to listen to not only for the wonderful performance of the virtuoso players, but also for the high quality of the music!
