Description

A rare recording has been released, recorded from a broadcast of a live performance by J.R. Monterose, a dynamic tenor who is somehow underrated despite participating in Charles Mingus’ masterpiece “Man Standing Upright” and a quartet with the rare guitarist “Rene Thoma” at the prestigious Amsterdam club “Paradiso”. J.R. Monterose and Rene Thoma first met in 1960 on Rene Thoma’s masterpiece “Guitar Groove”. This album is said to be a masterpiece among jazz fans and many people collect it. In addition, J.R. Monterose’s refreshing blow adds a touch of elegance to the album. Now, 10 years later, in 1970, the two had a fateful reunion in Amsterdam and held a historic live performance. This CD is a hard bop recording of that live performance in high quality from an excavated broadcast source, making it a new masterpiece.
