Issac Hayes/OR,USA 2008

On August 10, 2008, Isaac Hayes collapsed from a cerebral infarction while exercising and passed away. This is Haze’s last show full of vitality, and it is the best soundboard recording of the wonderful sound quality from the broadcast FM of his live performance in Portland on July 8, 2009. Hayes’ dark, cool long jazz funk is played for about an hour with good sound quality and solid instrument separation. The first song, 1979’s Don’t Let Go, knocked down the audience with its intense funk, followed by his own arrangement of Dionne Warwick’s Walk On By and his own composition Soul Man. Of course, it’s the theme from Hayes’ huge hit Shaft! In a sense, this is a masterpiece that can be said to have the best quality and sound quality as a Hayes live album!
