Description
Introducing a big 6-disc audience set featuring the glorious “KILLER WORLD TOUR 1981” with representative masters from all over the world! “KILLER WORLD TOUR 1981” is the first world tour for IRON MAIDEN, who had never left Europe before. It was a one-of-a-kind tour, with amazing performances and excitement all over the place, as the members recall, “It was like the world suddenly opened up to me.” First, let’s look at the big picture. ・February 17th – March 15th: UK tour (24 performances) ・March 18th – April 28th: European tour (27 performances) ・May 21st – May 24th: Japan tour (5 performances) )・June 3rd – August 4th: North American tour (42 performances)・August 15th – September 10th: European tour (13 performances)《Diano leaves/Dickinson joins》・October 26th – December 23rd: European tour (7 performances) This tour starts from their home country of England, travels around Europe, and then heads to the unexplored land of Japan. Then, it was their first time to travel to the United States, and then return to Europe/Britain again. This work is a compilation of carefully selected powerful masters from such “British tour”, “European tour”, “Japan tour”, and “North American tour”. Now, let’s take a look at each performance. [Disc 1: UK Tour (February)] The first thing that appears is the starting point, the 11th performance from the home country “UK Tour”, “February 28th Taunton Performance”. This recording was known among core collectors as a “bad day of sound”, but in recent years it has been upgraded to various levels. He is a master who greatly surprised the enthusiasts. The sound is wonderful, with both musical tones and singing voices crisp and clear. Although the reverberations of the opening of the venue give off the taste of recording from the audience seats, there are no customers making a fuss nearby, and it is a great recording that approaches with plenty of direct feeling. Unfortunately, there are cuts between songs and at the beginning of “Another Life”, so it is not a complete master, but it is a wonderful high-quality recording that is outstanding even on the UK tour. [Disc 2 and 3: European Tour (April)] Next is the “April 25th Antwerp (Belgium)” performance from the “European Tour”. This is the 48th performance of “KILLER WORLD TOUR 1981,” which has become much more sophisticated. This recording was also included in the phantom item “YEARS OF WRATH 1979-1981” which was limited to 10 sets and sold out immediately. We have received many requests for a reissue, but instead of doing so, we have reprinted only the best-sounding master of the three recorded performances here. As it is the best master, this is also a clear recording with sharp edges of musical tones. IRON MAIDEN’s first tour outside of the UK was during the second half of the previous year’s “IRON MAIDEN TOUR 1980”. It’s been about half a year since they last performed in Belgium, but the enthusiasm seemed to surpass even their home country of England. This is the only 2-disc master of this work where you can fully listen to MAIDEN’s enthusiastic performance in response. [Disc 4: Japan Tour (May)] The third master is the “May 21st Tokyo Welfare Pension Hall” performance on the first day of the “Japan Tour”, the first stage that finally went outside of Europe. It is the same live performance as the CDs “TOKYO 1981 1ST NIGHT”, “1ST NIGHT DOCUMENTARY MASTER”, and “PHANTOM KILLER” released at the same time this week, but the recording is completely different, and it is the first recording that appeared in the world as “LIVING PURGATORY”. This time as well, we are using the original cassette provided by the recorder himself. Although the Japan tour is packed with official “MAIDEN JAPAN” and FM broadcasts, the only representative live that is most impressive is this first day. It was their first time to perform in Asia, where everything is different from Europe, and the fresh performance was amazing, as if the tension had been turned into momentum, and the enthusiasm of the audience, who were overwhelmed by the sight of the steel giant for the first time, was miraculous. Not only the Japanese performance, but also the very special famous concert in the entire history of IRON MAIDEN, so we have included it in this work so that you can touch as many records as possible. [Disc 5: North American Tour (June)] The fourth is the “North American Tour”. This is the 17th performance of IRON MAIDEN’s first American tour, and the 73rd performance of the entire world tour, “Largo on June 28th.” This is also a reprint from the legendary “YEARS OF WRATH II 1980-1981”, which was limited to 30 sets and disappeared from the market in an instant. Instead of responding to the reissue request, we have re-recorded the most highly rated master of the 4-performance, 4-disc set for this work. This is a vivid piece of their live performance as they take on America, the biggest market in the music industry and the biggest barrier for British bands. [Disc 6: North American Tour (July)] The last performance is the “July 22nd New York” performance, which is one act of the “North American Tour”. Although IRON MAIDEN is still a newcomer in America. Most of the live shows were opening acts for JUDAS PRIEST and UFO. Unlike Europe and Japan, where solo full concerts are held, the set list is short, so we decided to record two performances. The venue for this day was “The Palladium” and the main act was JUDAS PRIEST. If you can relate to this, you are very sharp. Yes, you can listen to IRON MAIDEN, which was playing as the opening act of that live at “Palladium ’81” which is famous for PRIEST’s classic FM sound source! As expected, it is not as good as PRIEST’s official FM sound source, but it is a wonderful audience sound with a direct musical tone and a reality that clearly conveys that it is a big hit even on the opening act. In any case, how envious of the audience that they were able to see MAIDEN and JUDAS PRIEST from the Diano era in quick succession. Since it was in New York, there may have been members of ANTHRAX and OVERKILL at this scene. A few years later, Paul Di’Anno, who left MAIDEN, was asked to join ANTHRAX, but it is only natural that he would be traumatized by such a performance… After this American tour, IRON MAIDEN will return to Europe, but with that, Deano will leave the band. While the other members were becoming even more ambitious after learning about the wider world, Deano felt pressured by the success that only he had achieved, and began to indulge in alcohol. Diano and MAIDEN had world-class skills that set the world on fire, but they parted ways just before they could make the leap. This 6-disc set, which can be listened to as they follow their world tour in February, April, May, June, and July, allows you to realistically feel the world’s feverishness heating up to the point of tearing them apart. A world travel album that travels around the world with the young IRON MAIDEN on a never-before-seen “KILLER WORLD TOUR 1981.” A grand appearance!
